i got denied several times in immigration!

when i was about to go to UAE earlier part of this year, i had the stress of my life: the immigration section. i had my passport, my visa, my friends sponsorship letter and all other attachments. i got denied twice! and the frustrating part is i don't know why i was denied. i didn't look suspicious, i was bringing all my supporting documents, i was clear with my answers. my third attempt though was successful. no questions asked, i was just asked to present my passport and other supporting documents. i already am doubting if these consuls are following the standards in immigration. i mean if i had a problem, i shouldn't been given the chance of an approval. OR if i really am legit to travel abroad, then why in Pete's name did the first two consuls give me hard time? any of you who had experience like this? care to share? ;-)

That happened to my husband too. He was denied 2 times and he was actually going there for a vacation. It was a 2-week vacation to visit some friends and try to check out the place and the situation before to decide if he would like to work there or not. He called his dad and since his dad got some connections in the immigration he was able to go. The man that his dad called happens to be my husband's god father and he has a high position there. He went immediately and scolded his people. But of course we all know that it was all an act because it had already been happening for the longest time. They want you to bribe them of money, it's corruption definitely. For those who have a weak heart will just have to waste their money because they may not be able to go. But if you are stronger and shows that they cannot intimidate you then they won't do it.

that's true Binggaling. If all is equal no need to use connections. In the US Embassy they have a quota per day. sometimes they don't even use your papers for basis to accept you or not. I have spoken to a consul before when we attended a party. He said sometimes they would check the papers , sometimes they won't. Their mood can even affect it at times. I asked him why they were not objective about it. He just shrugged his shoulder and he said "that's just it" and he excused himself. He had a feeling that I'll be grilling him with questions.

In the U.S. embassy, you can't afford to be Intimidating because the consul will just denied you. during my wait there, i've heard that only those who are stupid ones are being allowed, those who can't speak well in English, you can hate me but it's true. in the Us embassy you have to look pitiful to be accepted most specially if you don't have connections there

Hi insulin: I'd love to travel to France to complete my studies and I have always see these immigrations process as something that can cause trouble because you depend on the good will of the immigration officers and if they don't like you they can make you wait a very long, long time. Thanks for your answer. Have a nice day. ALVARO

I know what it is like to go through the immigration section of the airport. I am very sorry to hear what a nightmare it was for you to enter the UAE. You got denied twice yet you had all the paperwork you were meant to require. When I visited the USA they asked if I was going to work. I said no and had to say it again a number of different times. I explained that I was going to do touristy like things in California and later in my trip work in Australia. I had a working holiday visa for Australia. It was totally more welcoming when I arriving in Australia. The immigration officer hoped I would have an excellent time. I have heard they are horrible to anyone that over stays though. I live in Europe. When I travel to another European country the cover of my passport is briefly glanced at. It is different if I go to a different continent. I have a British passport and sometimes that means waiting in a long queue and getting a stamp in my passport. I shall be visiting Canada later this week. I think it is mean how immigration officers can deny entry to a country when the traveler has a passport, visa and sponsorship letter.

my friend got denied in immigration too and i was there to witness it..we are both on visit visa and we have a job waiting in UAE..the company will transfer our visit visa to working visa once we reach dubai..but i guess the immigration got suspicious that she is not going to UAE for vacation but instead she is going to find a job so they tore up her air-ticket and escorted her outside the airport..i felt so bad for her because i was able to pass the immigration..i think the only mistake that she did was crying..nobody cries if you are going for a vacation..you should be happy right..but the thing is my friends knows that she will not be seeing her family for a while once she left the country so she cried too much that her eyes are swelling..and that gave the immigration her real motive for leaving..i'm lucky that i'm strong enough to control my tears that time..but i really felt bad for her that time and even now she doesn't want to leave the country for whatever reason anymore..she got some sort of phobia..

hi there ebuscat. yes, that is what i was told. i guess they can sniff who are first timers and try to intimidate them. my question here is, for a person with complete and legit documents, why impose such inconvenience? if there is no problem then spare the person the trouble and distress, right? people at times are really hard to understand. ;-(

Though I have travelled through Dubai Airport lots of time, I have entered actual Dubai only once. And my visa was done by Emirates airlines. They offered the visa service if you travel with them. And the visa is guaranteed. I didn't even need an invitation letter, which is good as I don't know a soul in UAE. I highly recommend taking Emirates flight to Dubai and let them do the visa. You have to send your passport to them 7 working days before date of departure. They will process everything and when you land in Dubai, all you have to do is tell the immigration officer that you have electronic visa on your passport. Easy Peasy.

goddessjes, I am confused here. Were you denied entry into UAE? Or were you being rejected by the UAE consul at the embassy for your visa application? Kindly clarify. Thank you.

hi. to clarify, this was during the exit from the Philippines going to UAE. that short section just before you get to board the plane. i stand corrected, they are not consuls. i meant to say they are the immigration officers. i realized my mistake. my bad. ;-)

goddessjes, Correct me if I am wrong here, to me you are actually being rejected by the airport's check in staff in Philippines. Right? And since you claim that your passport meeting UAE's expiration requirements and a valid legitimate visa to enter UAE is in order - then what was the reason they gave for turning you away? I am sure they would have to explain their actions here before turning you away right? What did they say?

oh that is very common. they just want you to pay a big amount of money. In other words, is part of the corruption.

Hello Goddessjes, With so many people applying for Abroad in the Middle EAst? i doubt the consuls can keep up following the standards. have you asked and find out why you were denied in the previous applications? but at least you got in, i hope you do stay longer for that work of yours. Well, i have experienced applying for a VISA and that is in the United States Embassy here in Manila, Philippines. I was referred by my relative in Peppermill Hotel and Casino for a Housekeeping job in Reno. but despite of the recommendation from the company, we were all first Denied by the consul. the reason for that? because most of my co-applicants where wearing coat or business attire, which may have intimidated the consul. as for me, i got a consul which as a snob one, he denied me right away. but it's because of my dad who started out as a tourist and went T.N.T. for the second time, i got a nice young lady but unfortunately, she denied me Visa, all because of my Dad So basically,i can never go to US unless my dad's green card is approved. Good luck and Godbless to you.

I am a bit confused here, do you mean you were denied of your visa? or you were held up in the airport? Have you asked them the reason why you were denied? they follow strict rules nowadays so better get all the requirements they need, if I were you let your friend from UAE get you a visa, that is one way to get immediate approval or you can inquire from Qatar airlines they will be the one to process your visa in exchange to buy a ticket from them. That is what I've experienced being a travel agent.

Hi goddes jes:: I have never passed through a situation like this and hopefully this will never happend to me. I don't understand what they see in you. Maybe it was that you were nervous at the moment or that according to their "standards" they were not sure if there was something wrong with you. I'm sorry that you have to pass this moment because of the counsils. Thanks for sharing with us your experience. Have a nice day. ALVARO.
