The price of one tiny window!!

We used to have the a/c unit installed in an exterior wall. Its great except when it breaks down, and it sure tends to, like nearly every 2 yrs, so I got fed up, decided to get the a/c unit out of there and buy a small window to install in the existing hole in the wall. The hole is about 19" by 22" maybe, (the size of a a/c unit)so I thought a tiny stained glass window would be nice. Oh it would be very nice but it would cost me well over $1,000. to buy one. So I started looking for a normal window, had someone come over to give me a price for the window and installation. The window would cost me $460. and about $200 to install. Then the guy said, if it were my house, I wouldnt install a window, Id close the hole.....period!! So thats what we're doing. Have you notice how expensive home renovations have become?

Yes we have and so we do most ourselves and those we can't do we do without. I really don't know what is going to happen, I need a new roof on one house and a new foundation on another, so far we just get by.

Ouch, a new roof and foundation, couldnt you pick something less expensive? We had our roof redone 2 yrs ago, $7,000. Lucky for us, the insurance was paying for half of it. We had a hail storm and it damaged one side of the roof only......we couldnt do only one side and not the other, soooo!! I sure hope you can find a way to maybe do it yourself. The people across the street did theirs last weekend with the help of family and friends. You also have to NOT be afraid of heights!! Good luck.
