Hi Mylotters! I was browsing the discussion board and I have run out of interesting discussions to talk about OMG! (Well no disrespect to the posters, just nothing I was interested in!)
So my question is do you believe in the tarot? are you skeptic? or do you just not believe what so ever and why?
I believe in the tarot. I believe it is a good guide, not a path set in stone. I think that there was a lot of wisdom put down in the ideas of symbolism within the cards. I started reading tarot about 3 years ago and every time I do a reading I learn something new.
Happy lotting!

Well, every1z got their own opinion and experiences. As for me, I don't believe in tarot cards or astrology or anything of that sort as its against my beliefs. Apart from that, what's the essence in life if we plan it out and it goes just the same way we planned it for , or rather what's exciting if we know what will happen a week later in our life?

Hm tarot isn't really a prediction of what will happen it's more a prediction of what could happen if you continue on the current path you are on. For example, lets say you were planning to meet with your friend at the cafe. Well because you chose to do that, you met a new friend along the way. Well that new friend is a lawyer and offered you assistance with a lawsuit you've recently got into. Well if you decided not to go, you would have never met the lawyer, and didn't get to enjoy any coffee =[ lol. The future is always changeable, the tarot just lets you know which ways you can change it ^_^
And my mom is the same way, I am never allowed to read her tarot for her, she thinks its a way to communicate with the devil - which btw is not the case. In fact a lot of the symbolism in the tarot is 'christian based' meaning that having a biblical background actual helps in interpreting the card. For example: The Tower is a card that represents the tower of babel which in the bible is a story about people who tried to build a tower to reach heaven but god destroyed it by mixing everyone's languages up so that they couldn't finish. Cards like: The Devil are also christian based and symbolizes what the devil stands for lies, failure, slander etc. Its funny that christian people are so against the tarot when most of the symbolism is from Christianity and Judaism. The only real symbolism connected to paganism is the pentagram, which is not in all decks, and the high priestess, which in essence could also be other religions as well.
I think the tarot is fun and I have learned a lot about myself and others. I like being able to comfort peoples concerns or worries about the future. All of us fear tomorrow every now and again, usually its nothing but it's nice to have confirmation of some sort.

Oh, My bad, I guess I did misinterpret the following of your comments:
"In fact a lot of the symbolism in the tarot is 'christian based' meaning that having a biblical background actual helps in interpreting the card. Its funny that christian people are so against the tarot when most of the symbolism is from Christianity and Judaism."
I just wanted to stet why we are against and I didn't quiet understand the term "having biblical background". Anyways thanx 4 clearing it up....

I think you misinterpreted my explanation so I will attempt to clarify for anyone reading this... I didn't mean to say that it was christian to read the tarot, I meant it simply had biblical references and that most symbolism was pulled from the bible/kabbalah. I also didn't mean to imply that it was created by Christians as it's believed to be that the first tarot deck was made by gypsy traders who were entrusted to keep the biblical writings, as well as other religious works, hidden while the Romans enslaved them. Though historians haven't yet been able to find the first tarot deck that is what the general minds have come up with to explain the deck. In no way did I want to suggest this had a direct link to Christianity, just that having an understanding of the bible helps in translating the symbolism used within it.

Hi wickedspies, your topic certainly caught my eye.
I'm quite interested in tarot cards, in fact I have a set at home which I bought several years back. I did some readings for myself and for my friends whenever we have a gathering and we discovered that the readings are pretty accurate though not so specific. I think it gives us a general direction and some guide, I treat it like a reference when I'm confused about something or can't make up my mind.
I heard we need to treat the cards with respect and more you explore with it, the more connected you are with it and thus more accurate.

That is very true many books or tarot guides will basically tell you to treat your tarot deck like a living person, whether or not that's true I don't know, but I do believe that the energies within your deck must be pure so of course I "purify" the deck before and after use.
I have had nothing but accurate readings as well which lead me to believe they work. I'm not trying to sound high and mighty, because everyone knows I'm as down to earth as they come, I'm a Taurus lol.
I never kept tarot journals I don't know if you've ever tried it, but the readings came pretty natural to me... describing what I saw in the cards it was memorizing (and still is) the spreads or placements of the cards.
Anyways happy lotting and thanks for posting!
