Still down 3-2 in the finals series,Kobe Bryant has to face again a tough task to carry the Lakers team to capture the title. He is very consistent on all of the games of the Lakers in the finals. The problem is, he was not supported well by his teammates in games 4 and 5. And there was a news surrounding Kobe Bryant that he is very mad at his teammates. Well, this is a competition,Kobe Bryant will set aside that attitude and will continue to trust his teammates in games 6 and game 7 if necessary.

There's a lot that people are missing about Kobe's and the Lakers' game five performance, though. On its surface, it appears that Kobe had a great game while no one else on the team did. But this is extremely misleading. Kobe's Allen Iverson impersonation, while impressive, really kept his teammates out of the ball game. With 7 or so minutes left in the second quarter, the Lakers were going through a bad spurt offensively. To make matters worse, Pierce was playing great for the Celtics, and the Lakers' collective defense couldn't stop Boston from scoring. So, the competitive person Kobe is, Bryant decided to take matters into his own hands. He proceeded to play catch-and-score for the remainder of the first half and for the first 9 minutes of the third quarter. Kobe attempted to take over the game not because the rest of the Lakers weren't producing, but because he was PO'ed about Pierce eating Artest for breakfast and Kobe wanted to play one-upsmanship with Paul. It's really as simple as that. Many of the Lakers had a good first quarter, and when the Celtics tried to put their foot down in the second quarter, Kobe made the conscious effort to take over. And if anyone doubts this thing and thinks that Kobe just needed help from the Lakers, well, take a look at this. Kobe Bryant shot the ball 27 times, making only 13 of his shots (a big 3rd quarter). Gasol, who had the 2nd best game for the Lakers, was 5 for 12. TWELVE! Fisher shot the ball only 9 times. Artest shot the ball only 9 times. Bynum and Odom only got 6 shots each, and Farmar only got 4. Bryant had 5 rebounds and 4 assists to go along with his supposedly "good" night. 4 assists? And here's the stunning statistic of the night: the next highest assist total was 2 (TWO!), with Fisher, Artest and Odom sharing the stat. This means that Kobe Bryant controlled the ball for basically the entire game. He brought it up the floor. He set the plays. He established position when passed the ball. He fired it up at an astonishing rate. It seems to me that Kobe wasn't supported by his teammates because his teammates never got a chance to support him. If you want to see what a difference the shot attempts make, look at both teams. Gasol and Kobe were in double figures. They also took double-digit shot attempts. All four of the Celtics' "big four" were also in double figures and took double-digit shot attempts. Kobe was a ball hog and it cost his team. He cannot defeat the Celtics by himself. D-Wade couldn't. LeBron couldn't. Howard couldn't. Kobe can't.

The key for Lakers' victory is for Kobe's teammate to step up. Basketball is a 5 man game so 1 man is not enough to win it. Kobe will need all the help he can get. Game 6 is near. If the lakers can tie it this game 6 then I think they will also win Game 7.

Yes, you are absolutely right juggerogre, the Celtics will have a hard time if the Lakers will win game 6. Then coming from theat game 6 result, the Lakers will capture the title via a game 7 win at home.

Kenneth, you might be right one of these times. You called a sweep after game one. Then a walk in the park after game three. I'm just glad it's a good series. Although I predicted Boston in 6, I'm more than happy to watch game 7 tommorow night!

Another possibility of making getting his teammates to be comfortable and be able to contribute, Kobe has to pace himself and make him a decoy to make the Boston defense in disarray provided that his teammates start to hit the open shots.

Hello kenneth, there's no doubt, they loose because Kobe is the one doing the scoring, what the hell where the others are doing. it's supposed to be a team? yeah, he's the best player but the game is like five to one, and the others were playing like chess gamers support no shooting involved. i can say it's different ball game now with out shaq. for game six and seven will be really intense for both teams. but Phil jackson is no regular coach, he will think of something.

He should be, he didn't have any support from his team. He can't do it alone, he needs his team to helped him achieve that ring that the team wanted to have. He was the only Laker player in double figures, Gasol reached double figures in the 4th quarter. I mean, can his team be a little consistent to their game..

They need the ball to score. Tell Kobe to pass it.

Kobe Bryant was very angry after this one. He had a scowl on his venomous made in the visitor's locker room postgame and promised he was going to be his team mates with having to talk very soon about their lack of energy. Would it be a nice talk? "What do you think?" Bryant growled. Kobe is the subject of my colums for Saturday's paper. Which can you find here. He did have one magnificent play Among his 26 points Friday, getting seemingly trapped, apparently then passing the ball off the backboard to himself (officially, the rebound), and scoring. Charlotte has now gone 7-2 Two Against the Lakers in the theams'last nine games. That's just outright bizzare. Former Bobcat Adam Morrison Played Three minutes and 32 secons Against his former teammates and earned a huge round of boos When he cam into the game. Morrison, formely the Bobcats'Overall No3 pick, said he understood the boos. Because he didn't play well in Charlotte and was quite pleasant in the postgame interwiew. Also he said he was still trying to sell his house in Charlotte since being traded to LA. The Lakers didn't get into bed about 4 am until Tuesday, Lakers coach Phil Jackson said, because they played then Thursday night in Miami and flew to Charlotte afterward. They lose if Sunday at Orlando, the Lakers will lose straight games for the first time since.

I do believe that Kobe is an excellent player. But for a reason that basketball is played by 5 players each team, It simply means, that no one player can win a game. I am a Laker fan, but I think this season would be a Boston's season. Only Bryant is scoring from Lakers. They should think of a much better play specially on their defense. They should have a much stronger Center man.

Game 6 was a different story and Kobe Bryant distributed the ball to his teammates and was able to make his teammates comfortable. The Lakers won game 6 because of defense and teamwork.
