Same Character, Different Actress

Do you know when in a movie series where they change the actress/actor portraying the character? For instance, in Back To The Future, they changed the actress playing Marty's girlfriend and also the actor playing George McFly. In The Mummy franchise, they had a new actress portray Evelyn (the mother/wife). Now in Transformers, they are going to have a model-turn-actress take over Megan Fox's character. Sometimes, these changes don't make a difference like in the Back to The Future series. Marty's girlfriend was only seen at the beginning and end of the movie so she was not influential to the storyline in the first movie. That made the transition in the 2nd movie with the new actress more acceptable because it was like we were reintroduced to the character. Yet, in the Mummy series, I was a bit disappointed by the change in actresses because I had gotten use to Rachel Weiss in that role. I'm not sure how I will feel about the change in the upcoming Transformers sequel. Do you mind when they change actresses in the middle of a series? Does it bother you or does it even matter as long as the character stays true?

Yes I remember when they did this in the middle of the Roseanna series. They chnged the character of Becky Connor. The original actress who played the part cam back later in the series to take the role agin though. I didnt like ahving a different person play the role though..you get so use to the one person and they suit the roel so well thats its hard to adjust to another.

That's another good example of when they do that. You do get use to how one person portrays that character and you either prefer that actor's portrayal or not.

Yeah, I noticed that in the 3rd Mummy movie, and I actually decided to watch the movie later, because I was all hyped up about it, but then that put a damper on the whole thing. I think it will do the same in the next Transformers movie too. I just wish they would make it a different character in the movie; they did that in the 2nd Nutty Professor, and it was better that way.

I like your idea. New actor should get a new character. :)
