FIFA world cup has witnessed some unexpected results. Portugal, England and Spain have disappointed us. Ronaldo of Portugal has failed to show his talent and skill in the first match. Spain has lost their first game. Switzerland's performance has just gave a shock to the Spanish and the experts. What are your opinions? Who will go to the 2nd round?

If Spain and Portugal make their exit then the FIFA rankings would be made a mockery off as they are world number 2 and 3 teams. And then Italy also did not look very comfortable in their first match and with Buffon out, I think they can also go out in the first round which will make it very interesting. BTW, England are still far from being sure of the next round as well!! :) Cheers! Ram

The lover of football will be shocked. But side by side we have to think that the others have developed themselves and there is a change in the soccer world. Rather than telling the FIFA ranking a mokery let us thin that the long planning of FIFA as succeed. They have increase the number of Team in world cup to improve the quality in other country. The ICC [for ccricket] is also trying the same. To bring the weaker i front Netherlands and some other countries all playing World Cup Cricket.

Yes, ramaswamyvtkv! Except few games the others were boring. Germany and Argentina have shown some skils, good movements and mobility. I think Brazil has played a very % game. They will show them gradually. Today Argentina has gives us pleasure. 2nd round obviously will be better.

Thanks kingnot08, for your opinion. You have chosen Japan from Gr - E and if so happen I really be very happy. Choose Mexico from Gr -A. In Gr H, I think Chile may have a chance. Let us observe and enjoy.

The first round is pretty boring if you ask me. Except for Germany's 4-0 thrashing of the Australian, the goals have been few and far. No one match stands out. In my opinion, only Spain's defeat comes as a surprise. England and Portugal, I find them lucky to have even earn a point from the USA and Ivory Coast. My prediction for the 2nd round Group A - Uruguay, Mexico Group B - Argentina, South Korea Group C - USA, England Group D - Germany, Ghana Group E - Holland, Denmark Group F - Italy, Paraguay Group G - Brazil, Ivory Coast Group H - Switzerland, Spain

Thanks for the reply. But to me from group Mexico and France will qualify. And from group G Brazil and Portugal will qualify. I have doubt about South Koreea. If they qualify it will be great pleasure. Besides these I am in support of Japan. But no hope.

After last nights defeat of france, I think now Uruguay and Mexico have a very good chance to qualify. Maybe its glory time for Uruguay to make their name again in the World Cup after more than half a century.
