it would be real interesting if one of the underdogs can pull of a championship win in the World Cup they'll go down in history as one of the best soccer teams, side by side with the other great ones

After watching Spain losing to the Switzerland, I have a feeling that they are choking under the pressure of being a hot favorite. It is still early days thou but I am sticking to my original prediction of an Argentina vs Holland final with Maradona lifting the cup again, albeit as a coach this time round.

On the current display I do not see any other team other than Brazil, Germany and Argentina winning the world cup. Holland and Spain may be dark horses to upset the applecart. But realistically speaking I do not see any new champion being crowned other than those who have already won the world cup. Cheers! Ram

Germany indeed has an incredible record of consistency in reaching the later rounds of the cup. They also have a sort-of hidden advantage that is coming to light with the usage of the World Cup Ball. Have you read about that? The Adidas studs were influential in a World Cup final once before, when Hungary, which had a golden generation of players, were not equipped with the best of footwear, while the Germans were. Any advantage at this level, is critical ... like the REal-time sharing of notes by the goal keepers at the last World cup ... was it Argentina vs. Germany? It is but perhaps intrinsically unfair, similar to Olympic Swimmers wearing body suits to further streamline their bodies, while less supported competitors don't use them. Each world cup has a new campeones! ;) Eric
