Do you think, Is it safe to buy/sell things online. Generally I don't prefer to buy or sell something online and I generally avoid online transaction. I avoid to use my credit cards online. I have seen many websites and forums on Internet where they are posting password and user IDS of paypal accounts, credit cards, and these all is free!! you just have to sign up for their website.!! This is the reason I think online transaction is not safe.

Hi Crazy Poster: I don't use my credit card to buy things on the Internet so I feel safe to buy things on ebay. At the same time, I only buy on ebay which is one of the most popular websites of online sense and they have a great reputation. So I spend the money I earn in my online money programs buying CDs and DVDs basically. Thanks for asking us this question. Have a nice day. ALVARO.

I agree. I buy from ebay. I feel much safer there. I've actually bought a couple of items there. Clothes and books.

Really? Paypal passwords and usernames? That's scary! I don't want to find my name on the list. Well, basically, I buy things on ebay, and I give my username to my clients when I ask them for payment. tsk tsk.. The internet is getting more dangerous than ever!

Hi Crazy Poster and breisa: yes it's scary so we have to be careful with our information and with the emails we receive because the hackers have many strategies to invade our privacy and get our personal informations. Even with that, I was shocked after knowing that they made list with this information and publish them on thei forums. You need to be sure of what you do on the internet, thought. Thanks for your answer. Have a nice day. ALVARO.

I have been Blessed and fortunate, Thus far - and I mean Thus far. Everyday it is a gamble which we take risk of continuously. I read the postings and discussions of how people get hacked and yes it is getting more and more dangerous by the minute. We online avid online users have to keep on our toes and read, read, read about how to safeguard everyday. It is like the virus, we spend great amount of time upgrading and updating our protection. Same goes with our personal information. It is not a choice it is a must.

Hi, Crazy_Poster. I agree with you, but I think we can trust some big website, not small website. Actually, I do not shopping online regularly. I don't that is safe. I had one time to buy my mouse online, and it was very convenient. But I m not going to buy some very expensive things online.

It depends, if you are using public unsecured network, online transaction is not safe. I do all online transactions from office network which is secured and do not do any transaction from hotel room or anywhere which says unsecured network. This is never recommended to access banking sites in unsecured network.

I dont think any of them are working or true. It is safe if you are not making any stupid mistakes while transacting online

It is not 100% actually. Several factors are involved when it comes to the security of online transactions. One the site on which you are transacting to, are they reliable? How would you know? check the Internet first for ratings or feedback regarding that site. Two, even if the site is reliable, be careful of phishing sites. Phishing sites somehow hijack the domain of reliable sites to get the cc info and/or even paypal account info and other sensitive info. Three. Make sure the computer you are using have no spyware. (programs that was installed in your computer that monitors and steals credit card info, username and password and other sensitive info). How to improve security? Use the OpenDNS services to minimize or even eliminate the chances of going to scam sites. Transact only only using reliable sites such as ebay. Check the Internet for the reliability of the site, you will easily find negative feedback if a site is a scam. Avoid using other peoples computer for online transactions. Don't let just anybody use your computer if you do a lot of online transactions. Use paypal instead of using your credit card everytime. Get a good anti-virus and anti-malware program to protect you. I hope this helps. Keep lotting

i think online transactions are not safe...that;s why i only buy online from my online earnings...as i don;t prefer giving my credit card details online and there is nothing which we can't get in stores or we get cheaper on net but after adding shipping charges the item becomes expensive neither we know how the item is generally it is different from the one shown in picture...and also the quality is not good

This is a good post! I honestly don't know the answer. I've read a lot about people having their identity stolen but I'm not sure whether it happens more online or offline. I do know that I have read at one point that online purchases are less vulnerable to revealing personal information due to the whole 128 bit encryption and all that but the only problem is that when it comes to computers every single thing is hackable, whether it be computers, cell phones, websites, servers. But at the same time, someone could steal your identity the old school way by simply stealing your credit card info while ringing you up for your meal at some restaurant. I'm sure you can look at statistics regarding this but I don't know much about them. Great Post!

Transaction on line is convenient, and in my country, things online are always cheaper, these two are the advantages. The disadvantages of online transaction is I can't see the real goods, so it's easy to be cheated. As for account safty, I think if you are careful enough, you can avoid the danger. I think the follow points are important: 1. Try best to keep PC safe and clean, with no spywares and viruses. 2. Don't put too many money in accounts of Paypal, etc. They are not good banks. Charge them when need only. 3. Don't put too many money in the bank card related to paypal (or other similar) accounts. Maybe it's not very convenient. But always the more convenience, the less safty. Have safe accounts and Happy Lotting!
