I've read all four Twilight books and I loved them, but I can't speak for you. I definitely think they were worth reading, but I know loads of people who disagree. It depends on what kind of books and what kind of writing you like to read. Personally, I'll go for anything as long as I like the story. I liked the story in Twilight. I'm not a fan of vampires (despise them actually), love triangles, or paranormal romance... but I liked the series anyway. Give it a try if you're really interested. Check it out from the library or borrow it from a friend.

Hey Ally, Thanks for the post! I really appreciate you taking the time to write your opinions about the books. I am quite interested, so it might make for an entertaining read. I hope the terrible films haven't ruined some good books for me... i didn't think the actors were good at all. :( That's why i'm hoping the books will be fantastic, and might save the stories for me! :) Cheers for sharing!

Well personally I've enjoyed the films, but I know plenty of people who loved the books and hated the movies. It depends on you. You may like the books even though the movies aren't great. I think they make better books than movies. There's lots of stuff in the books that doesn't translate to the screen very well.

Yeahm it's all about what you enjoy. I completely agree about how books sometimes don't translate well to film. I mean the concepts which are quite personal and emotive sometimes get lots in the pictures and sounds... doesn't share the same complexity with your own personal thoughts feelings and ideas. It's a shame but that's the problem with making movies from books. Lost in the translation. I do have lots of people telling me that the books are great though. Might check em out and see! :)

I've read the books and watched the movies; I think it really depends on your personal taste. If you're macho and tough person-like, you'll probably hate them. If you enjoy melodrama and hopeless romantic-ness, you might like them. I love the books because they're guiltily addicting; but when I take a step back and look at them in a different way they're very much like soap operas, LOL. I don't think the movies are great, but I believe Rob Pattinson is gorgeous. w

lol... you sound about right with regard to this stuff! Soap-opera-esque-ness of it... (wow that was a big made-up word!) But i understand that people are really into it like a cult following or something. I saw the lead guy at the movie awards and he was really odd. I wonder if his vampire fame has made him a little bit vampire-like in real life?! lol. Just kiddin, but he seemed really overly-white and a little lost/vacant. I think i would be scared to have my face plastered over buses and posters and such. (not to mention being all over the tv! ARGH! lol. Some people love the fame though. Oh welL! lol

Hi hmouse. I've read all the books and seen the first two movies, and you can not keep me away from seeing the rest of them. The books are, admittedly, written for a teen audience, but people of all ages are enjoying them. I'm glad I read the books before seeing the movies. It made the characters seem more easily understood. I don't mean the obvious things...I mean motivations and ideals within. It's all a personal choice. I know many who love the whole "Twilight" experience, and others who can't stand it

Hey there, yeah i know what you mean about the whole-ness of the experience. I enjoy books that are written for teen audiences, i think that it doesn't stop adults from enjoying them loads too. Love terry pratchet books! they're aimed at a much younger audience than I, but i still think they're amazing. I just figure it's personal opinion and whatever keeps you entertained etc. Thanks for posting though. I value the opinion muchly! :)

I like the movies, I watched both parts, but I didn't really feel like reading the book. Sometimes when I like a movie, I would try to read it too if it's based on a book (I read Jurassic Park after I watched it and I have liked Michael Crichton's books since). For the Twilight series, the atmosphere is nice to watch on screen but I would imagine the book to be a bit dry, more like a diary kind of story, so didn't really motivate me to read it. Just my personal opinion.

Hey Blue, Yeah, that makes sense... i guess not every movie that's based on a book is amazing etc. I love Michael Chricton! I think he's a legendary master of book writing! Jurassic park was made into a great film and i have both. The thing i enjoy the most about his work is that you can keep returning to it, to read/watch it over and over again, and it doesn't get boring... ever! Just fantastically written and engaging. :) Cheers for posting!

I have not read any of the books or seen the movies. If anyone can convince me otherwise I will try but to me they do not look appealing. I have heard the books are grand from many people though- if you are a fan of this type of thing!

lol. yeah i was hearing the same thing, but as i didn't like the movies too much, i was scared that the books might be aweful too. I guess i'm pre-judging the books based on the movies. Naughty me! cheers for posting. :)

hi hmouse20, i read all four books. it depends on what your taste is in books. if you are looking for good writing and profound thoughts you will not find it in these books. the writing is extremely simplistic and geared towards teens and tweens. however, the relationship between edward and bella is addictive and will keep you reading until the end. my theory of why so many people love the books is that romance is always addicting; it makes people feel alive. so if you want to read an intensely romantic story about two people being together against all odds but don't care about the quality of the writing then these books are for you. by the way i loved these books. i am not saying that they are bad. i just can't compare them to other great books.

i've read all four books, plus the e-book, midnight sun, which they say is the 'edward' version of twilight. i liked them all better in books. the movie feels like they left too much details out. for me it's worth reading because i like teen romance. i guess it depends on you if it's worth your time.

I didn't like it. I read one, can't even remember which one. I think it sucks. But that's just my opinion. It's just not my taste. I haven't seen the movie, and I don't even want to see it. I don't understand what others see in it.
