I just started to drink water to lose weight. I am replacing the sugary sodas, juices and teas I used to drink. Oh and coffee can't forget that frappicino to be exact! My only issue is I drink a little water and then my bladder is FULL. I have gotten buy on drinking soda and other drinks because they do not go right thru me and I don't have that uncomfortable fullness in my bladder. I always work at a job where I am on the telephone all day and the bathroom is a good ways away so I only use it on my break and lunch unless it's very urgent in between. That is one of the reasons I have gained so much weight buy drinking soda. I don't care for diet soda so that is not an option for me. Does your body eventually get used to drinking water so you don't have to potty every what seems like few minutes?

Hmm, I'm not quite sure about your problem, but if I remember correctly, than your body as well adapted to those sugars within. And there are quite some processes that need to be dealt with the sugar and all the other stuff in it, yet because the water doesn't include any kind of sugar, I think that is the reason it makes you need to go to the toilet so fast. Eventually when your body adjusts to the bigger amount of water it will go better, to put it that way. It's also because water = only some molecules of water and a little bit oxygen, yet what is in all these sodas is more than just this, so they need to have quite some other processes. Another way of thinking, but might sound wrong: Your body has a too small amount of water in it, as it doesn't get cleaned too often, because water is, I think, the only real fluid that can clean anything. Since it might be needed directly, because the stickyness all around it, it might need to find a way out as soon as possible... Either way I am not completely sure about this, since I am not doctor or anything alike, but these sound like they may be reasonable answers. I hope I helped you.

Caffeine supposedly dehydrates you, so whatever water you do injest is held onto by your body, because it doesn't know when you're going to get water again. So when you drink water your body is letting go of the water it's been holding onto. Eventually your body will get used to having water all the time, it won't hold onto it anymore so you won't be at all bloated, and your bladder will hold it better.

Herro mrsjbelle It has been my experience that my body adjusted to water vs soda and juice. The other benefit of water is it helps clean our digestive system. I cannot drink diet soda, it gives me migraines, so when Dr ordered no caffeine, I could drink no caffeine pepsi, however, when he diagnosed diabetes, I had to quit soda and minimize fruit juices. Hope this info helps you. Prosperous mylotting

try just sipping the water over a period of time, i have the same problem i drink a bottle of water and it goes right thru me. you already know you'll be better of without the soda and all that sugar could also cause diabetes so your doing the right thing. but why soda doesnt run thru us like water is a great question.

It's like our bodys just "soak up" the soda. Wonder why they don't soak up water.

mrsjbelle, I am like you. I stopped drinking sugary sodas and replaced it with water intake to loose weight. But I drink fresh orange and pineapple juice and green tea, in replacement of the artificial flavored juices. Fresh coconut water is essential for the kidney. My potty time has improved. I also gained too much weight because of drinking soda. I can't eat my meals without it. Now I decided to drink water and fresh juices instead of sodas. To add to that, I also go easy with my rice intake. I used to consume 1 and half to two cups of rice. Now I only eat a half cup to 1 cup of rice. I alternate brown rice and white rice. Instead of eating white bread, I eat whole wheat bread.

I like your screename "Honeybuttz" welcome to Mylot. I love coconut water. Yum. I try to not to have much juice I would rather eat the actual fruit as the juice has so many calories.

I don't think the rice would adjust your weight so much, since only sweets or products including alot of sugars as saturated fat, either way I don't think rice has too many of them. Eventually the white rice isn't as good as the brown one, but I don't know all the reasons for that.

I think my body is adjusted with drinking water since I drink lots of them. But I don't think we can stop from peeing since any excess will have to go as waste. Just drink the recommended 8 glasses a day. That way your water intake is controlled and your body can easily adjust.

My problem is just the opposite of you. If I drink soda I have to run to the bathroom NOW!!!! About 15years ago I went on an only water to drink, nothing else and I lost a lot of weight. That was the only thing I gave up. I drank only water and I noticed I wasn't making the bathroom trips!!!! but I slowly started back. Now I drink to much lemonaid and orange juice and not enough water so I am not loosing the weight!!!! I would say if you stick to what you are doing and you still have the problems of running to the bathroom, that you need to see your Dr again or maybe a different Dr. Good luck to you.

I was 63kgs before I quit drinking soda. After I quit, my weight goes down to 60kgs. But step 2 is doing exercise. Step 3 is eating less portion like 2 bowl of rice cutting down to 1 bowl. Now my weight is 58kgs. I still eating less and less each day, and sometimes I just ate an apple for lunch or dinner. I hope I can burn fat not muscle or water weight since when I drink back water I will gain back the weight.

You don't really need to eat lower portions since one day you'll stop thinking like that, and when you eat more than, than the kilograms will go up. Eventually if you exercise enough you don't need to eat less, perhaps less of the bad stuff, nothing else of the usual in my opinion.

Good for you, I just bought a Brita last night. So I can drink more water, I guess I'm in the same boat you're in. I haven't given up soda yet though. I'm just limiting my soda content as well as tea and coffee. I'm also changing speeds when I walk with my dogs. I think it might be working. My capris fit a lot looser than they did a couple of weeks ago.

In my personal experience, I find that drinking any liquid gives me the same uncomfortable feeling of a full bladder that you have. When I go to the bathroom, I only pee a little. Its so annoying especially before going to bed and I make several trips to the bathroom. I'm trying to lose weight and so I followed that advice to drink 8 glasses of water. I ended up spending a lot of time in the bathroom. I asked my doctor about it, and he said my bladder is fine. When it comes to sodas, I like mine diet. I have a bland taste and so diet appeals to me. What I observed though, and I don't know if this has any scientific basis, is that when I drink diet soda before I work out, I tend to be stronger.

Drink a glass of water before you start the meal. Water naturally needs some space so that you feel fuller without actually having to stuff yourself.

Well soda drink are high in sugar meaning lots of calories. Drinking water is very good to our health. Since 80% on the human body is water.

Actually it's usually 70%, 80% of water is only in embryos or little babies, which is the reason they look fat.

Your body need more water when you exercise. And you want to drink water with every meal, to help you fell full and to help your weight loss program. When you feel hungry, it is often actually thirst. Your body needs plain old water, not soda, not coffee, not high fructose corn syrup. A glass of water can help stop hunger cravings. Drinking large amounts of soda such as coke, pepsi and mountain dew have been know to cause health problems. These health problems may include muscle fatigue, hypothalami, gum disease and etc. Another problem with drinking soft drinks, you are not drinking water. While our body need water to maintain homeostasis.
