Recently in one of the school in Kolkata a student kills self after being caned by principal of the school. After this incident school committee has decided to ban corporal punishment in the school which is a good move. I believe that No child should be subjected to physical punishment and mental torture and whoever contravenes such provisions, should be construed a major violator of rules and if found guilty, be liable for disciplinary action. Also, I believe that this should be banned in all the schools, a law should come in existence to protect students from corporal and mental torture. Do you feel corporal punishment and mental torture should be banned in all the school?

Hi Ajay Singh Baghel: This story is aweful. I ask myself how could this happend these days, people are so ignorant and still consider corporal punishment as part of a normal education. That's sick and that's another way to make new generations sick too because they'll answer to these stimulations with more violence. Thanks for asking us this question. Have a nice day. ALVARO

I think that corporal punishment should be kept although in my country, it is against the law. Canning is a little bit too extreme but how about a small spank n the but instead? I found that nowadays children are out of control. When i was a child, my mom did spank me when i behaved badly or would hit me with a chopstick. I always respect my parents and I don't talk back. But children these days aren't the same. i remember in high school when there were always teenagers causing trouble and shouting at the teacher. Or they would smoke in he schoolbus. I am just disturbed that no adults are taking actions. The parents aren't doing anything either. i've seen a 13 years old giving the middle finger to his mom. Anyway, today's society is messed up. A little physical punishment without bloodshed would be good. Just a little pain to teach the student a lesson.

I was punished in the school for not doing homework and believe me that I did never like that, why do you need to go for a little physical punishment? Keep a track of activities they do in the school and be regular to check the school diary. Thank You for sharing.

I think that little physical punishment will make them in little pain and they will remember that for a long time. They won't redo the same thing once again. I am talking here about serious behaviour. A few months ago, there was a student who kicked a police car in the high school i went. The police came out just to yell at him and all the students started to throw objects at the police. I though that it was embarassing. The police didn't bring anyone to jail but it get us to question ourself on where did we do wrong. Probably that you had good parents who looked after you. My mom also kept track of what i do at school. However, not all parents are the same. I am not generalizing but alot of parents here in Canada Quebec are bad. They think that school will do the entire job. I am for small spanking on the butt or on the hand but no violence using the baseball bat or using a belt in leather. But it's great to see that everyone has different opinions. have a nice day
