The French players today refused to train to show solidarity against the sending off of Nikolas Anelka. Raymond Domanech's damage to the French football just seems to continue!! The sporting director of the French football team has resigned in disgust and things just seem to be going downhill for French football team. What are your views on this? Cheers! Ram

ram_cv, Honestly, this is not the only misconduct incident as far as the French team is concern. Since the last 2 world cup tournaments there had been a lot of bickering amongst team members or team members and the coach but things just remain in the dirty closets of the changing room. I feel the appointment of Anelka is just Coach Domanech's mistake for this player had all along been a controversial choice and if you could recall this striker was actually left out in previous tournaments including the prestigious Euro Cup. I was actually quite surprise to see him featured this year and now this. As in my other post, I was actually seeking that the international body like FIFA will intervene and end this misery of all coaches by concluding his prospective career as far as the game soccer is concern. He is just bring the game and himself to disrepute. The coach was basically right to criticized him for his sub par performance in the first half where he was literally a let down to the team with his play. As his vice captain had quoted: "He was actually walking around in a world tournament match!" I feel that having one less bane in this sport is better than to tolerate his nuances and spoil brat attitude. I am sure there are other better players in the field.

Yes, Le Sulk was chosen ahead of Benzema whom most thought should have been a part of the French squad. I think Raymond Domanech's reign has been a testimony that a set of talented individuals can be completely led astray by a rudderless manager. I mean in the last match he was so bereft of ideas that he did not even use his three substitution!! What kind of confidence does such a manager build in the team!! Cheers! Ram

I think choosing Anelka over Benzema was an exclusive choice of Domanech which raised a lot of eyebrows and hue and cry back home. Also, I agree that the players do need a boot for their part in this unnecessary and ugly revolt. But, I think this was a disastrous that was waiting to happen since the last World Cup and FFF has had to pay for it's lack of guts in changing Domanech when it was clear that he was taking France backward instead of forward!! ram_cv, On another concern, could Coach Domanech be blamed for his selection of Anelka over Benzema? I mean who is the coach and team manager at the end of the day? The French team really have to wake up and give their own BUTTS a good boot! The coach may have the balls to select Anelka but I'm sure like the rest of us, he doesn't have a crystal ball to predict what this disgraceful character could in turn bite the hand that feeds him! Besides, aren't they suppose to concentrate what's ahead for them to do in the next match than to revolt? Is the French telling the world that they cannot use their sub striker for the first line up for the next match? What is there to revolt when there's something more important at task now? FFF stands for Fédération Française de Football but I am sure it is having other acronyms to the rest of the world or rather to all the French supporters who have made their trip to South Africa to support their team now. Pathetic!

Anelka is one of the most experienced, if not THE most experienced player in the Premier League! Surely if anyone's got a valid opinion, it's him! Manager's a joke.

But remember Anelka has past reputation of being a difficult player to manage. At Arsenal he used to be called the Le Sulk for his Sulking behavior. cheers! Ram

The French are not the bravest of nations and this could be them venting their frustration at themselves and trying to intimidate the referees due to their name and stigma. Fact is someone needs to take responsibility, this is a tragic world cup for them and rivals that a few years back when they returned to defend their cup and failed to score even a single goal(having lost the first game to Senegal and then drawing). If France want their great team back they need to focus on the youth Like Malouda and remind them such behavior is not right! Now lets hope South Africa can beat them and Mexico lose to Uruguay so the hosts can go through ;)

Given their current state, I would have rather sent back the coach and put in Laurent Blanc the manager elect to be in charge of the next match. Cheers! Ram

It does seem like a strrange time to revolt. The French still have a chance of qualifying and so would think to train as hard as possible to give them the best chance to get through the group. Nikolas Anelka has always seemed to sulk or moan when things are not going his way and i would think that they would be a better team with Henry or Cisse playing in stead. The world cup only comes around every 4 years so quite a lot of these players will not get the chance to appear in another one. It all seems a bit strange to me.

So the prodigal Le Sulk strikes again... But as far as France's chances of qualifying it would require a near miracle and sequence of events to occur for them to move to the next phase. Cheers! Ram

The French Football Association should have sacked Domenech long time ago. Why are they still sticking to him, it is anybody's guess. While Anelka had a chequered past, I think he is right for refusing to apologise to the coach for his half time tirade. Domenech just does not have the capability to lead a nation team especially with one that have such big ego. Anyway, France should not be in the finals after the facade against Ireland in the playoff. It is football karma that they should be booking their return air ticket after the group stage.

Exactly my thoughts. No idea why FFF kept persisting with Domanech when it was clear he was taking them backwards!! Cheers! Ram
