How to get rid of unwanted suitor?

I did this before when i was in college... However this is not applicable for everyone... This technique will also test how sincere your suitor is. Scenario: The guy i meant on my on the job training only. He approached me and courted me eventually... I don't like him roaming around me really so i came up with a good story... Want to know the story I made? I just told him that I have a daughter... And he really coouldn't believe me for he sees me as young and innocent lady... To make my story more believable I told him about the child thing when he called me on my cell and he was near my village, my niece that time was on my house... which supported my story. I went out and walk outside with my 3 year old niece and i know he saw me outside for I saw his car but did not stop... I walked outside with my niece purposely... So I guess that is effective but that is not applicable to neighbor suitors... Better just tell the truth straight to them that you dont like him or just like him only as friend... But if you don't have the guts to talk straight them why not do stories such this too... what to share your techniques to?
