Infrared Survey Explorer (Wise) snapped the intriguing snap of one of our next door stellar neighbors seemingly blowing us a kiss across the Milky Way. The star in question is called a Wolf-Rayet star named V385 Carinae in the Carina constellation. This star is around 16,000 light-years away from us, about 35 times as massive as our sun, with a diameter nearly 18 times as large. That translates to one big star. It is, in fact, one of the most massive stellar residents of our Milky Way galaxy. This is a also a hot, short lived star.

I can't wait until this thing finally blows big time...it is going to be an absolutely stunning show in the night sky. It should be a super nova visible to the naked eye and quite bright, possibly rivaling the full moon. we may also get a chance for the first time to actually watch a black hole form as it happens.
