Ear mites

A few days ago I noticed my dog started to shake head a lot. Then I noticed she has nasty black spots in her ears. I looked up dog ear infections on internet and find out that ear mites are causing this. So I washed and wiped her ears and applied "stronghold" medication that my friend recommended and a few hours after she already stopped shacking head. It's a relief.
If ear mites aren't treated, they can cause loss of hearing and loss of balance. They can live in ears of dogs and more commonly, cats.
Have you ever had problems with this? Any tips on how to treat it? I've read that "stronghold" kills only adult mites but not the larvas. Wiping them with water should help.

Luckily no, my dogs do not have ear mites. I clean them every now and then and check it every bath time. I also use an ear cleaner whenever I clean their ears. These parasites should be taken immediate care or else it will very uncomfortable to your dog and as you mention this might cause ear loss too.
