Opossum

I started a discussion on Possums earlier and everyone was asking what they looked like. This is our beloved Scrat. He is a marsupial and also his tail is prehensile meaning he can use it to hold on to you kind of like a monkey would in the wild. The biggest thing we learned and why you see so many of them hit and dead along side the road is 1. they freeze when they see lights. So headlights are their enemy in the city. 2. If a baby opossum falls off its mothers back, the mother does not stop to go get him...Thus you see them singly in the woods. They have good canine teeth and love to chew. Did you KNOW they love Bananas? Opossums usually live about a year. They age quickly. We were fortunate to have ours for approx year and half so he was a very old opossum but we learned and enjoyed him and loved him very much!
