In about an hour and a half we can see the midningt sun - it is now 11 PM - the webcamera is on the Arctic Circle. You can not see the sun directly but you will see how light it is. If the clouds are not in the way, the water reflects the sun. You can come back tomorrow and some days after and see it again. This is the miracle we see every summer here. Thanks for your comment, keep_onwatch. For many years I have been walking around with my camera this time of the year especially at nights when the sun is near the horizon and all the colors change so they become warm and glowing. This kind of light is so good for taking photos. Some day I might be able to download some older pics here.

So this is what it looks like in the middle of the night? How often does that happen?

At the Arctic Circle you can see the sun day and night some days around Summer Solstice, June 21. Then it will be below the horizon before and after that date for some weeks but it is still light. In Winter we have only a few hours of light - the darkest time is Winter Solstice around December 21. I have lived here since 1981, but it is still hard to get used to the darkness. But Summer is very special even if we have lots of mosquitoes that time too.

Below the horizon? That is so difficult to imagine.

What a beautiful scene! I have not seen the scene you're speaking of because it's morning here in the U.S. but I see a lovely river. I bookmarked it so I can look at it every few hours and see the day's progress. You live in a very beautiful country!

Hi, dragon - I hope you get a glimpse of the special summer night light. We appreciate the nature here and the river that is still free like it has been for thousands of years. This place is one of the cleanest and most peaceful in this world, and all seasons are beautiful - even winter. But summer is very, very special.

You can see the midnight light in 15 minutes. It´s cloudy but the sun is very low, so maybe you see it reflecting on the water!

Cool, does it make it hard to sleep at night with it being so light?

Yes, it is easy to turn the night and day around, be awake at nights and sleep half the day. But I sometimes say that I have switched to USA time. It gets better in August, but this time I need several layers of curtains and such to keep the sleeping room dark. It really helps, so I will survive - it is only a short time. Earlier I used to take my bicycle and go and take a lot of photos during summer nights. Perhaps I do it again when I get a digital camera..and a bicycle..

I do have some pictures, but they might be only in printed form. I am not so good at the technical things. I have tried to post pictures here but it has not worked always. Only in the beginning four years ago but have to try it again some day. Thanks for responding..
