My favorite book as a child was any book by Richard Scary. I read a lot of different books to my daughter now, but the one I read the most often is "Where the Wild Things Are"

When you read the Richard Scary books did you try to find goldbug? That was a favorite of my sister and I. Also when we read "Where the Wild Things Are" during the wild rumpus I have made up a little tune and our girls dance like they're the Wild Things!

'Santa's Twin' by Dean Knootz - 'Santa's Twin' by Dean Knootz
Sorry, I have one more...:) Every year after Thanks Giving, I have to read my kids, 'Santa's Twin' by Dean Knootz. It is from the book Mr. Murder. I am a big Dean Knootz fan and was totally excited about him releasing this book that was within his book. You would have to read it to understand. Anyways, I read it to the kids in place of Twas the Night Before Christmas. It does take about an hour to get through it...but they love it so much, they remind me every year to read it.:)

If you do, each page has a snowman worked into each picture. We have to have two books because of that! LOL One for me to read and some kids beside me looking for the snowmen and the other for the reason to look at the pics while I am reading. Seven kids, they all can't fit around me. :)

It is really cute, he goes around trying out living with other animals but finds something wrong with each one. LOL In the end, it was easier to be a bunny. :)

My absolute favorite book when I was a child was "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" It is available on amazon at http://www.amazon.com/Cloudy-Chance-Meatballs-Judi-Barrett/dp/0689707495. Every library I've ever been to also carries it. I love the pictures in this book. It always drew me in and made me feel like what was described in the book was actually happening.

I do not have a child yet but since My husband and I are both teachers. (He is an english teacher) I have already started my childrens book collection. I have Oh the places you'll go by Dr. Suess, The giving tree, Horld and the purple crayon, and a few other but they are my favorites.

When I was about 4 years old my dad was laid off of work and he taught me how to read a book about animals and their babies. If I could remember the name of the book I would love to give it to him as a Christmas present. A couple of favorites that we read to our kids are "Where the Wild Things Are", "Goodnight Moon" and "Oh, The Places You'll Go."
