Hi, There are several ways to delete virus, but without using an antivirus its gonna be real hard. There are several viruses that are impossible to delete for a user like me and you. Virus programs are often written in Assembly Language Code and so is machine specific. In order to detect a virus we have to understand how it is being detected by an antivirus solution. A virus is detected on two basic methodologies. The first one is direct, as it scans for a virus signature within the virus program code. A virus signature is a code snippet that has been defined as malicious by the database of your antivirus solution. This is why it is very much important to periodically update this database. This method is often impossible for a common user. The second method is a little bit indirect. Here your system will be monitored for any anomalies. Now, a user can identify these anomalies through system log, system registry and process viewer. To get an overview of the virus detection system you should read http://technolocus.blogspot.com/2010/05/overview-of-computer-virus-and.html and to know how the intrusion detection system of an operating system such as windows xp works please read http://technolocus.blogspot.com/2010/05/windows-xp-intrusion-detection.html To delete a virus, you must first detect any abnormalities in system logs. You may also have to note the date and time for that. Then you search for the file with that date and time. If you can interpret system logs correctly the task can be easier. Also look for abnormal increase in your disk usage. Look for certain activities like a sudden surge in your network traffic. If your system is showing slower performance without no apparent reason, look for some unknown process in your process viewer. Identify the executable file and check out the location. You may like to debug the file to have a look at its code. You may want to delete this file. But in order to do that you have to first stop the process that it started. If you ever attempt to remove a virus from your system without the help of an antivirus, you will start appreciating the programmer who coded the world's first antivirus. LOL Thanks. God bless you
