How did you like the new Evangelion movie? I was a little disappointed but I'm glad they changed a lot of things so it wasn't boring to watch. I hated the new eva pilot. She's the most annoying character in the series and served no purpose in the story. It's like they just wanted to add a new character no matter what. Some scenes seemed kinda rushed and it looks like they can finish the story in the next movie. But there are 2 more movies so there's gonna be a lot of new stuff I guess. Can't wait.

Some people often joked about NGE as the "Money collection project", as there are countless gains made from the franchise. The 2.0 is like trying to recook the soup, but with a different flavor this time. The original NGE was a hallmark in anime history, and Gainax certainly won't let this franchise go to waste. From toys, OSTs, movies, games, mangas, there are almost countless ways to make money. But we can't say 2.0 is a complete money making scheme, in some point it offers a new experience that fans and newcomers could all enjoy together. Is sorts like developing the original story to a parallel plane, and say "what would happen if the story goes this way?". For the original, Gainax sort ran of money while making it. This time is back in full flower, it would make another bang just like the original did. Revitalizing old franchise is a smart choice, as long as they doing it the right way. Core fans and newcomers are equally important. Call it monkey making scheme, fan service, rebuilding past glory, we can expect Gainax has some trick up to its sleeves. Who knows maybe 2.0 will be a bang, and both this and the original will be equally praised.

I don't care about the franchise making money, all those toys or anything. I like the changes they made in rebuild because it would be pretty pointless just to remake the old series with new animation. Because when you watch original, it still looks great today, just as good as the rebuild. I've heard some theories that rebuild is in fact a sequel and not a remake. I don't believe that but we'll see.

NGE fans will be happy to know that Funimation has licensed the second movie so it'll be on DVD and Blu-Ray soon.
