How has music changed in the past decade? For better or for worse?

I listen to a lot of music. My preferences range from hip hop, r&b, some rock, classical and the list goes on. But, is it just me or is music changing indefinitely?? Songs in the 90s and before had actual meaning and the lyrics in conjunction with the music u could FEEL. now, it just seems like music artists are just putting out as much music as they can to earn a quick buck instead of taking the time to write anymore because of file-sharing programs and ITunes that have taken over and dented their paychecks. Also, who even writes their own lyrics anymore??? I miss the older days of music and people look at me crazy if I ride by bumping "You Used to Love Me" by Faith Evans versus "Teach me how to dougie" by the Cali Swagg District lol. I feel especially bad for my infant daughter who's idea of oldschool music will be Souljah Boi and Maroon 5 versus my definition of oldschool being Smokey Robinson and the Temptations! What are you guys' opinions??
