No more Happy Meals?

I just heard on the radio that McDonald's is being sued for using toys in Happy Meals to lure children into eating unhealthy meals. They say that kids want the toys so they pester their parents to take them to McDonald's and that's why we have such unhealthy kids.
GET A GRIP! If the parents don't want the kids to eat the food, they can just say "No". I am so tired of everyone thinking they have to make sure that parents know how to raise their own children.
Do you think we need to get rid of the toy in the Happy Meal or do you think people are able to decide for themselves if they should get a Happy Meal for their children?

Wow. It blows my mind how stupid people are. People can't take responsibility, so they blame a fast food place. I think this is idiotic. The toy has nothing to do with anything. Parents are lazy and don't want to cook, so they just buy McDonalds.
People blame fast food on their being unhealthy and fat; blame tv for their being too lazy to exercise and play outside; blame video games for violence... When will it end?? Ughhh!!!

In my opinion, the toys are the only good things from Mcdonalds.

I think that is just pathetic! Parents know what a Happy Meal consists of. If they want to allow their children to eat it than it is on them. When my kids were growing up of course they wanted the Happy Meals and the toy that went with the meal. I, being the adult in the situation decided if I wanted to get them the Happy Meal or not. McDonalds should be able to keep the toy in the meal. This world is becoming sue happy!

The government is determined that we have no choices left but what they deem that we should have. I'm sick of it. If they don't take the privileges directly they influence other people to try to take away our choices. People should wake up and realize what is happening! It is happening because we have become a nation that wants our hands held and no responsibility for our actions. Time for us all to grow a set and take control of our own lives--that's so scary for many people that I doubt it will happen. They want someone to blame for their mistakes.

The occasional Happy Meal does not make a unhealthy diet, everything in moderation!!
But I do get very tired of everyone being dictated to and told what they can eat because there are a very small minority of people who overfeed their kids on fast food.
I personally don't like McDonald's and very rarely go, but I did get the odd happy meal from McDonald's for my son when he was younger, but from what I saw of the toys they were nothing special and he never mithered for them.

I think the whole idea is horrable. Happy meals have been around for many years and they have always done great justice to a kids smile. I think the toy in the happy meal is the cherry on top. I know that when i was a kid i was looking forward to the food just as much as i was the toy. It was a fifty-fifty deal. In my opinion Mc Donnalds is an all American resturant that desrves respect for all of its items including the toy in the happy meal.

Happy Meals have been an icon for so many years. Kids and adults enjoy them equally. I no longer buy them for myself as I have moved away from fast food. There are healthy choices to the Happy Meals too. If people don't want their children to have the meals they shouldn't buy them. Why keep other children and adults from enjoying a simple pleasure.

I do believe that I am totally capable of ordering just what I want for the children. I don't need someone to stop a restaurant from selling anything to keep the children from eating it.
In fact, the toy is a good thing for the children that are picky and finicky eaters. Some children will not eat and having the toy for the really young ones gets them to eat their meal so they can have the toy.

I knew about this months ago, that a county in Ca. is banning Happy Meals..My opinion?? If I ever have money to visit Ca. I WILL NOT visit that county..It is just another way to control people, I guess some parents need that control, but I don't.

Hi reiny! I would definitely have to agree with you! I don't
think that children should be deprived of the toy in the Happy
Meals! First of all, I don't think that they are so terrible
for the kids to have once in awhile to begin with! And it has
nothing to do with blaming the parents. What is so terrible
about feeding a child a hamburger, fries and a drink? I can
think of alot of worse things for them to eat! I think that
should be left up to the parents and I don't think that they
are being "abusive" by feeding a child something that they like!
And punishing a child by taking a toy out of a Happy Meal is
totally wrong! This is a stupid lawsuit and will be dismissed!

i used to buy the happy meal toys without having to buy a happy meal. Sometimes the local mcdonalds sell those in some bargain stores and such.
but when i was a kid i seldom ask my mother for a happy meal. i thought its wasteful to buy a meal just for a toy.
