Some people say eating can reduce their stress

Would it work? Do you think it gonna work? Some people say eating can reduce your depression, and stress all together. Especially for ladies. When they stress, they would like to eat something. Keep on eating, and eating. They want to swallow up all the sadness, and hope to take all the pain away by this way. What do you think. Do you think that would temporarily relieve the sadness? One thing I know, this method at least better than drinking.

i dont think it works i think there is no logic between eating and stress....but like u said it is better than drinking there are a lot of ways to avoid stress like exercise yoga etc.....i would like to prefer them.... happy mylotting

That is another way to go. If you prefer other methods work better, it would be a better way for you. People have different methods to relief their stresses, so, it is personal preference.

i wouldnt dare to go for the two option given as sleeping to relieve stress works well for me. i would rather sleep for when i wake up i feel refresh and my mind ready to think again

it depends on what you eat, I think There is food that helps reduce stress. But something like that, eating too much in case of stress, happened to me often when I was very nervous and anxious. An explanation would be, at least in my case, that intense stress burn quickly the energy and the organism tries to get it back by eating (minerals, vitamins, proteins etc.)

Food is a necessity for a living human to sustain his life. But sometimes, it serves us beyond its main purpose. When we're feeling gloomy, we find food to lighten up our mood. People say that when a person is in a state of depression, there's a huge possibility that he would gain weight. In situations like these, food does not only function as a source of nutrition but also a source of happiness. Foods that give the feeling of satisfaction and contentment are called Comfort Foods. Comfort foods are usually cooked in a place where you feel comfortable or relaxed. Places like home, school, or some local restaurant are where we usually eat our comfort foods. It removes the feeling of nostalgia and it gives delight not only to our starving stomachs but to our lonely hearts as well.Personally, I really enjoy the dishes that my mom cook for our family. Filipino dishes like Sinigang, Adobo and Bulalo are some of my favorites. Some restaurants might also have them but my mom's will always be the best. Well, at least for me. Now that I'm staying in Manila for my college education, I really do miss the food that my mom cooks for me and my family. College life would be much easier if I could eat my mom's specialties everyday. Just as the saying goes, there's no place like home. Another personal comfort food are French Fries. I prefer making my own fries from fresh potatoes than buying a processed one because it taste more natural. Plus, any food is more delicious if you were the one who prepared it. Actually, I love every potato dish out there but fries are my favorite because they are fast to prepare and easy to eat! My dad always reminds me that it can absorb a lot of oil and cholesterol but I just eat it anyways. I guess you really just don't care if you get fat because of your comfort food. As long as you're in bliss, you would never think of getting fat! Happy mylotiing!

Mood can affect what your eat - Eating the wrong reason and the wrong time and the wrong source may cause ill health.
I eat when i am sad,i eat also when i am happy, i also eat when i am lonely and also eat when i am boring.I cause is not about eating is about what i eat. last time i eat lot of fattening stuffs,nowsday i ate wheat breads,carrots,crunchy vegetable and fruits.So it more healthy.But lately stuffs are getting more tense and depressing so i catch up smoking already. So i think eating can really effect your mood.

I never do that. If I am depressed, I don't want to eat anything. just want to stay alone. Eating will disgust me when I am in the condition of stress. keep silence is my way to reduce stress. I want to be in a peaceful circumstance. do exceise is also a good method.

I don't believe eating will rid one of sorrows and depression. Yes it could cause the release of "good feeling" but after all it's all done and out, the problems still remain. It could help temporarily to escape for a while, but we must use this escape to take a deep breath and pick up courage to conquer the stress or sadness. It's definitely better than drinking, as you'd still be awake and not get drunk with hangover.

eating may temporarily give you a boost of happiness, but the downfall is overweight. this would result in sadness and more stress. i know myself i eat comfort foods to feel better, however, when i step on the scale i realize i better control my eating.

...maybe...but also gain too much weight if you have a slow metabolism :( ... too much eating is not healthy...I think everything should be moderate :P

i don't think so. actually being fat is sometimes a result of stress. some people release stress by eating but they just end up worrying about their figure or health problems.

Yes I agree, some foods can help stress for example bananas and nuts because they are full with zinc, also chocolate has a chemical that makes you happy, as long as you don't over eat cause that will make you more stressed if you gain weight. Treat yourself. Just don't over do it and remember excersise also helps stress, nothing heavy maybe a nice long walk and plenty of fresh air.

In my view, any activity which engages the person can reduce their stress. Now it depends to the choice of that person. As some likes to hear music, some like to go to disc as they prefer dancing, some engages themselves to painting or some of their hobbies & some eats. As they love to eat, hence in my experience we need to do such activity which we love to do, by doing that we will keep our mind away from stress. And by doing such activity which we love, we will make our self happy. Hence my advice will be to do any activity which you love to do, while you are stressed. As you will free stress free :-) Keep enjoying your life !!

i guess regarding with ladies they tend to eat sweets when they are depress or stressed out. but i know ladies who can not eat either when they are depress. maybe it is a case to case and it depends on the personality of the person. when i am stressed or depress my wife gives me what we call comfort food. she gives me a cold chocolate drink or a good cup of coffee. it does makes me feel okay.
