Do you prefer montessori mode of education or normal education for your child?

In India, most parents like Montessori mode of education but are afraid of sending their kids to montessori schools, because students who go to these schools then find it difficult to join the mainstream education especially when the Board Exams for the 10th and 12th Grade are concerned.
What is your opinion on Montessori mode of education?
Cheers!

Based on the experiences that I've had with my oldest daughter so far in school, I think that all schools should be converted into a more montessori model of teaching. The reason that I say this is because my daughter is at the top of her class and thus doesn't have the opportunity to really learn things at school because the teachers are spending more time getting the students that are far behind her to grade level. This is the reason that she really doesn't like going to school as she feels that it is very boring.

I understand the fear that your child will not be able to go from one mode of education to another. I am having to homeschool my son. His brain is operating at genius level, and his public school was only "dumbing him down". It did not offer ANY advanced classes, and the classes that he was in were holding him back. They have started a new program where all of the kids are thrown into the same class. There is no more separation for regular kids, advanced kids, and special ed. The problem that they are seeing is that some kids aren't grasping the material as quickly as others, and are therefore holding everyone back. I decided that the best thing to do would be to teach my son myself. I had looked into the local Montessori school, and thought that it sounded wonderful. The only problem is that the tuition is $600 a month. I can't afford that. I am a single mom of four. I wish that mainstream education would adopt more of the programs and attitudes of the Montessori way. But right now, they seem to be floundering around in the water.

Yes, but in India the scene is slightly different. Here the montessori style of teaching is actually regarded as slow as they do not have strict schedules and allow children to learn rather than teach. While the traditional schools in India have a very strict curriculum and is pretty tough.
