The US soccer team has really impressed me with their fighting spirit. They did not sulk having two legitimate goals being denied by referees and robbing them of two points. They just stuck to their task and finally score in the 90th minute to qualify. And their reward, Ghana and if they get past them then either Uruguay or South Korea. I pick US to go all the way to the semis if they continue to play like this.

Thanks ram_cv! It wasn't too long ago the thought of an U.S. team going all the way was a pipe dream. I hope they could go all the way.

The results are now in and USA are to play Ghana. I agree that it is not an easy match because Ghana is one of several African countries that have started to produce a decent football team.
I have been very impressed with their matches so far, and despite losing to Germany they made certain that it was not an easy win for them. I have no illusions of Ghana winning the cup, but they have certainly made an impression and will leave South Africa with well earned pride.

Last night I watched the match between UK and Slovenia. Their goal is 1:0 and at that time everybody thought that these two teams could go to next round. Then finally the TV broadcast a little scene and US had one goal at the end. This is so surprise. Then I learned why they were so excited. This goal meant that they could go to next round and therefore Slovenia was out. Today I learned that Germany would beat UK. My dad said although the soccer was not as popular as the baseball, football in America, but once American start to play a game, they could make a progress in a short time. My dad is right. Now American soccer team goes further.

Your dad was right. It has been a long time coming but I think soccer is taking hold in the U.S. There was so much excitement today because of our win! It was a good game. i hope we can advance . We have to play a good Ghana team.

The American team have nothing to worry about. This Ghana team have two dodgy centre backs, no creative force in midfield and a really inefficient striker in Gyan. They laboured and still lost to Germany, were hanging on for a draw against a ten man Australian team, and only just beat Serbia with a penalty.
2-0 to the US.
