Today is the feast day of San Juan. Although we don't live in San Juan, I still don't want to go out cause I don't want to get wet. hay....Our whole country celebrates with this feast day. Students go to school early cause those people who throw water start at about 9 am and in the afternoon, you don't have a choice cause there are some places that they make the drivers of vehicles to stop and they throw water on the passengers. I have experienced those when I was still a student. Those who get wet late in the afternoon are lucky cause people already use clean water that time. During the morning and in the afternoon, they get the water from the river or since San Juan's fiesta is usually high tide, they get water from the flood.

I have heard of water sport, but this is the first time I learn't from you about water festival. Happy San Juan, here at India there is a festival called HOLI, on which day colored watered will be thrown on each other.

this is not a water sport. During the feast day of San Juan or Saint John the baptist (in English), people throw water to people cause in Christianity, water is used in baptizing.

I have my share of getting wet today. I got wet on my way home. at least I a am a bit luckier today for I got wet when I was going home, not when I was just going to the office or school.

i've never experienced that. i guess it's because i don't live anywhere near the san juan area. i read on one of your comments that some people here in cavite do it too, but i've never heard of it here in cavite where i practically grew up. i've always seen it in the news though. it looks fun, but i guess when you're the one getting drenched, it wouldn't be too fun for you. and i didn't know that they use water form floods.

I am not against to this tradition but I think it is more reasonable especially in metro manila not to waste water because of the water shortage in the metro. And not all people enjoy getting wet going to work.do you? i think no one else does, right?

this was a tradition that was celebrate by our fellow filipino for years. i had never experienced it to get wet during san juan day. i think that it is not a good idea to throw some water on the passengers especially to those who work and those who go to school.

We celebrate it here in Bukidnon (Mindanao) too. Rainy season use to start as early as June here and we use to go out and get wet in the rain then get a pail of rain water and splash it on each other. There were also a couple of times when we also splash at vehicles that pass by. But the passengers don't really get wet because it seems like the drivers had anticipated it and they have closed the windows of the multicabs. There was also a time when we were about to splash water at a truck, then passengers behind it splash us with water first. We were so surprise but we were all laughing about it especially the truck passengers because they put a bit of mud in their water. Those were the old days, but now it seems that nobody realize that it's the feast day of San Juan. It's so hot and I don't notice the people celebrating it either. I guess people are just being practical because our water supply is not anymore as abundant as it use to be.

Here in cavite the feast of San Juan is also celebrated. My sister said to me that people get wet in some of location here. I decided to wake up early and go to office eary to not get wet. I also advice my wife to bring extra shirt so that if she get wet, she have an extra shirt to wear.
