Stupid car problems!

Yesterday on my way back from talking to my new boss about when I would start working my car wouldn't start. I have only ever had an issue getting it started once before, so I popped the hood and jiggled the battery cable and it started right up. On the way home, maybe a 20 minute drive, it started to get a little hot, but it was nowhere near overheating according to the temperature gauge. As I am pulling up in front of my house the stupid thing dies on me. I pop the hood and there is coolant all over the place. I of course think the worst and assume it is the radiator that went bad. Fortunately it was just a cut hose and it is now running fine today after getting it worked on. Have you had any car problems lately? Were they major problems or something minor like mine?

Not too lately, but I did have them about 8 months ago. I went from needing a jump, to needing new brakes, to having the head gasket blow all within a couple of months or so. I was lucky with the jump, although the weather wasn't too great. A kind couple was willing to help me out, thank goodness. It was terribly hot out that day so I'm glad I didn't have either of my kids with me, although I did have a cartful of groceries. With the brakes, I honestly thought it was something else, they were so bad off. Mostly because it happened out of the blue. After my husband got new brakes and a battery for it, the head gasket blew shortly after. Now that was fun, especially when I got stuck while trying to run some errands. The darn thing kept dying on me after I'd start it up. That is, when I was lucky enough to get it started. I don't know how I did it, but I somehow managed to get it home. My husband found a guy that was willing to work on it for cheap. Unfortunately it backfired on us (big surprise), so we decided it was time to chuck it and get something else. Which was just as well as it was 17 years old. We've been pretty lucky ever since (knock on wood). Now we have 2 cars that are in pretty good shape. With regular maintenance hopefully they'll last us for some time to come. Happy mylotting!

Gosh when don't I have car problems? I'm driving a 99 Durango.. so yeah, it has it's fair share of issues. The most recent was just a couple weeks ago. It was a Saturday.. we headed out first thing in the morning to go to the Y and the darn thing wouldn't start. I brought all the kids back inside and texted hubby.. he says to jiggle the battery cables, so I did and got it started, thankfully. Later that day I brought the kids to the canal for a walk and when leaving it wouldn't start again. Took me awhile of jiggling cables but finally it started again. Straight from the canal we went to the playground, and when trying to leave it did it again. It was taking awhile to start, so I was jiggling the cables harder, and one of them, which was corroted, just broke apart. So we ended up walking home from the playground and I was so stressed! Hubby came home and replaced the cables and thankfully we've had no further problems.. except that it blows hot air at my feet while driving and always feels hot even though the temp guage says it isn't. Hubby's buddy needs to take a look at that.. it's been going on for weeks at least. It could be worse though. It was about a year ago this time that both the Durango and the van I was driving broke down at the same time. The van needed a fuel injector and I forget now what the Durango needed. Took us awhile to get them both up and running again.. but the van just kept going after that, and we stopped driving it all together after like September.
