Were the Terracota Warriors of China real people? or are they cursed?

The film The Mummy 3:Tomb of the Dragon Emperor depict a realistic story of how a witch (Michelle Yeow) cursed the emperor and his army after killing her lover. The curse made the emperor and his army into clay statues. Time covered them with sands until they were excavated by modern day archeologist. Would you think this legend may be real?

well the film changed what the the warriors are for. They are used in the afterlife and not for this life.
