I have never been to Amsterdam, so it is hard for me to say, but I would really like to go there for a visit at least. It seems like a great and fun city for sure! But Dutch seems hard to learn, so I think it would be hard for me to live or work there, to be honest...

Most people know their way in English, there's no pressing need to learn Dutch, really. Sure you'll be annoyed by our English accent, that's just what comes with it.

No, i disagree with what you say. If you stay there, you'll learn their language really fast. I learned Dutch in 2 months! Well, not everything, but at least i was able to converse with other people already. Yes, it is a fun city!

@redhotpogo: I respect your opinion, Sir. We all have diff views of the places we've been too. I stayed in amsterdam for about 4 months, and i find the place really beautiful. All those historic places such as the Anne Frank Museum, Corrie Ten Boom, and a lot more. Their language is easy to learn and the place isn't that big compared to other European countries. And regarding the dirty hippies, if you are referring to the picture i posted here with my discussion, it was during the Queen's Day or as they call it Koninginnedag. Everyone celebrates it! All orange! Boats floating at the canals.. Food Food Food! Music and a lot more fun! Again, I respect your view. I still want to work and live there. (: @diamania: I agree with you. If they haven't been there, they wouldn't really know how it is there, right? (: haha

When living in Amsterdam for a long period things get boring very quickly. But I have to agree, Amsterdam is different from most global cities.

hahaha yeah 2 months.. but not really everything.. I learned how to converse with people already. It's easy to learn a language when you hear everyone speaking it, plus, i read the dictionary every night. I just had my uncle teach me the correct pronunciation. I might take up European Language major in Dutch when i finish Nursing. (:

Yes, Amsterdam may be boring but it is so TRUE that it really is way different from all other places. The first time i went to the Centrum, i was shocked at the Souvenir Shops, but i got used to it. I learned the language in just 2 months! Looking forward to working and living there in the near future when i finish College. (: Groetjes!
