Last year on holiday, we had the back wind of a tornado. It was ever so windy, in fact I couldn't dream of being around when their was a full one. I had a hard time breathing, so much so that I had to cover my mouth and also help my son by blocking him. I have also experienced heavy rain that's been none stop but compared to other people these are very minor, so I can't complain.

Wow.. I don't know if I would have had so much composure during
a storm. It's always scary when such things like "tornados" touch
down. We have them rarely here in my state; but other states have
them daily ..like kansas, oklahoma and texas

I was thankful it only lasted for three days but it was pretty daunting for some of the reasons you said. We was staying in a static caravan that was being rocked like you wouldn't believe it, I kept thinking if it would be wise to try and rant a room inside an hotel but decided to wait for it stop. (was forecast to last almost a week though)
Thanks for the best response :)

You have never had even a thunderstorm? I am not asking
that you have a storm that you were afraid..but asking what
the worst storm you were in. If the worst storm you had was
a snow storm or thunderstorm...then you would put this
in your answers.

The worst one I was in was when we had torrential rain all of a sudden and a lot of flash flooding. I was just finishing work and it hit. My children were not with me as one was at work and the other at school. The worst fear was I could not get through the flood waters to get them, I was wet, cold and still trying to get to my children. My son was stuck on the school bus and it took forever to find the bus, I had to try and get through flood waters to get to my daughters work, cars were floating down the creek if they could not get through, I was lucky to get through. When I finally got them both many hours later we had no power for about 3 days and the bottom of my house was flooded.I can not describe the fear of not being able to find or get to my children or to know if they were o.k.

Hello,
Very nice topic.
The worst storm that I went through occurred on January 1998 in Montreal, Canada. It was the worst Ice storm ever to hit the city. During 5 consecutive days, 4 major storm system brewed in the gulf of Mexico and they traveled up north up to eastern Ontario, Quebec, the Canadian Maritimes and also northern parts of New-York state, Vermont, etc. In Montreal, we got like 100 mm of freezing rain and it caused major damages to vegetation, power lines etc. Some areas around Montreal had power outages for up the 35 days non-stop. It was terrible and it was like 0ºC or 32ºF during the freezing rain storm. On Friday of that week, the city of Montreal came close to a major blackout, the subway didn't work for days, and thousands of people were caught in the subway and they had to be evacuated in the dark. Thousands of trees were destroyed. Also, around 20-25 people lost their lives due to carbon monoxide poisoning.
Back then, I was a high school student and my 2 weeks Christmas holidays was over. My first day of school was Monday January 5th and the ice storm started on Tuesday the 6th. So my school and every other schools in Montreal were closed and they remained close for another 2 weeks in a row. It was just a nightmare, dangerous ice everywhere, falling from high buildings. Downtown Montreal was closed to public due to dangerous ice conditions.
I'm hoping that this kind of disaster will never come again, it is just a nightmare. We also lost our food in our refrigerator.
Have a nice day.
