I know that videos are virtually obselete as the dvd & blu ray have taked over but for those who own alot of videos & still own a vcr like myself, do you still watch videos? I have loads of videos & am slowly coming to terms with the fact that they take up ALOT of space...I am now wanting to save up to buy a dual vcr/dvd player/recorder so I can record all the videos I like onto dvd & then just sell/give away the videos...I am curious though, do you still own videos? If so, do you still watch them?

I still have my VCR that has been going strong now for over 13 years. The main reason that I have kept it is because it is the only means that I have of recording shows from the TV. I still have some videos too that we watch from time to time as well.
All of our home movies from when the kids were younger are on VCR too. We have had a DVD player (non recording) for about 5 years or so now and are thinking of upgrading that soon as it no longer works properly. Some days it plays and other days it will not. If we get a new DVD or Blue Ray player that records, then we may get rid of the VCR, but I think we may as well keep it as long as it still works.

I still use my vcr to record too!! That reminds me that I have about 4 or 5 episodes of the pacific left to watch!! I want to get a dual vcr/dvd recorder so I can record video to dvd & hence get rid of my videos which will mean LESS clutter but that's another discussion lol.

Once my daughter stops watching the kids videos or I get a vcr/dvd recorder, I will get rid of videos.

We have managed to get rid of most of our old videos. We had lots and lots of kids ones. These have all gone and now we have a Clint Eastwood collection left, but we still like to watch those ones every now and then.

Yes, and my purchasing habits went up. The converter box didn't work, cable costs to much. Don't get any kind of t.v. so we know watch alot of muvies vhs, dvd, or online. Miss the weather reports but I still have free radio. Honestly I would rather own vhs. Dvd's are scratch to easily, cost to much money and now it's time to upgrade to blue ray or what ever is now the new trend. To much b.s. for me.

I agree, it does seem like too much bs at times...I don't even know if I will ever get blu ray unless they make dvd's obsolete...I still use my vcr to record a tv show I want to watch.

i could not watch tapes anymore as all our players are already garbage ready appliance even if we would want to get them repaired, no more parts are available in the market..

I only watch DVD's now. I still have a few tapes but I haven't touched them in years. I don't miss them either. VHS tapes just can't compare to DVD. And I haven't tried Blu-Ray yet but I probably will eventually. I bought my first DVD player in 1997 or 1998. I gradually replaced some of the movies I had on VHS with DVD. Now I have probably around 900 movies on DVD.

WOW!! 900 dvds!! I wouldn't know how many I have but I know it wouldn't be that many! I still have heaps of videos though & want to transfer the ones I like to dvd rather than buying them again as I picked up alot at yard sales & charity shops.

Oh I definitely do, I invested so much money in building up my video collection that I just can't let go of them. In fact I still use my VCR to record stuff off of TV and will wait until it packs up before then buying a hard drive/dvd/vcr combo.
The trouble is that many of the videos I own are not yet available on DVD to buy, so whilst I have upgraded certain videos to DVD the only way I can enjoy the others is to still watch them on tapes which are starting to degrade. When I do upgrade to a new combo machine I will transfer some of the rarer ones over to DVD but I don't what I will do with the actual videos after because so few people want them that it's nearly impossible to give them away let alone sell them.

We all seem to have a lot of vhs tapes and it makes sense to keep watching them or they'll just sit and collect dust for one thing! besides, dvds scratch easily and the picture/sound quality isn't really that much better than vhs (in my opinion). Plus in this economy, I can't afford to replace all my tapes with disks! Unfortunately, tapes were fazed out years ago but I prefer them to dvds and the menu madness with options in ant print.

Personally, I like dvds better but only because if you miss a bit you can go back to the beginning of the scene rather then rewinding...plus discs take up lett space. I do love my old videos too.

I used to have so many videos my vcr could run itself. Then along came the dvd. It mad movie watching so much nicer. There was no tape to break or rewind. Bluray is giving the dvd a run for its money. Every now and then I will return to my vcr to watch an old video. Otherwise, I rely on my dvds.

Me too - dvd's are much easier as there's no fast forwarding or rewinding but I still love to watch my old videos & my vcr is set up in my bedroom.
