i am really looking forward to watch india play some football out in world class. i am wondering when will india come out of the one only played game the cricket................ i am sure that watching cricket is not as exciting as soccer. u know what when indian hockey team protested that they were not paid well the board said ok u all may leave the team we will find new ones.. can u believe it? its the national game but not even cared properly. well i know that indians watch football as much as cricket and india has got talent which not seen u wont believe me but my football coaach has been playing football as his career since childhood he once said to me when we were standing near the half court see now ill shoot the first pole of the goal blindly i was shocked to hear that then he closed his eyes and shot the ball and bang!!! it hit the first pole. just think if only my coach is able to do that how many more people are there who got skills but no support t5o football in india. consider the same asi said about hockey team with cricket if the cricket players have said something like that the board would have got their feet begging. so after reading this what do u say.

It would be nice to see another Asian country enter the world cup. I believe that there are really talented and skilled soccer players in India. I guess you can be one too if you give your heart and soul to it. Lack of support from your national sports board/commission does not only happen in India. It's the same situation here in the Philippines.

I wish other nations have at least a chance to compete in the finals... I wish the Philippines does it too... Anyway, if India focuses on football just like in cricket and other stuff, most likely they will enter the world cup... Another solution is to host the next world cup... that's automatic entry :D

I do not see India in the next soccer world cup. I think India still has a long way to go before they qualify for the world cup. First of all the sports administration in India has to become professional and outside the reach of the politicians. Till that time it is going to be a really sad state of affairs. I personally do hope that in the next 12 years or so India does make it to a world cup and we are able to cheer our team likewise!! Cheers! Ram

oh yeah i totally forgot about these politicians oh my god how on earth did i forget them? well i dont think i need to say anything about indian politics to indians except for one thing if the government approves a budget then only 1/5th part will be received by the common people the rest will be swallowed by government officials and politicians. with these politicians it will definitely take time as you mentioned.

Hi frozenphoenix I agree with you that there is talent in India not only in football but in almost all other sports and you have a first hand experience on that. However the reasons why the Indians are unable to create any kind of impact in soccer are many.Let me enumerate them..1)The country lacks proper infrastructure. There is no method where the talent that is hidden in a child can be unearthed in India...2)Lack of funds from the government.EVery year just got hrough the budget and there you will find that only a small amount is earmarked for sports.Cricket managed to survive as they attracted corporate big wigs while football failed to do so...3)Lack of participation of the middle class in football.I always thought that this is the main reason why India a re behind.Almost all the players who take up football as their profession comes from poor families where they are deprived of even two square meals a day. Also when they are spotted by the clubs and start playing for them they are not in a position to increase their physical strenght which is so essential in football..4)The basics of the game like trapping and receiving of our footballers are very poor as they seldom goes through proper training during their initial stage..5)In short it can be stated that in India there is talent but it is in a raw shape. One needs to fine tune it to make it a finished product and so far we don't have anybody.Hence I believe that India featuring in the next World Cup is a dream which can never be fulfilled However if young guys like you take football a s your profession and continue to pursue it diligently then I am sure that within the next 10 years we will find India playing a World Cup game and maybe you are going to be the captain of the team. All the best.

Nice thinking. But I think with cricket getting majority of the sponsorship, viewership and support its difficult for India to play soccer at the world cup for the next 20 years.

yeah dude thats what it is india has got the capacity but sponserors arent having faith just imagine that you hear a news india is gonna play in worldcup qualifiers then later u hear that it qualified consider that moment will there be no support to india? really?

If India is into soccer, then i am very sure, cricket is definitely going to lose its fame in India, i am desperately waiting for India to get selected int he near future before i start disliking the game....i really wish it happens before baichung retires, i just love this man, not only for his game but as a human being, he is really great
