Childhood sweets and chocolate

A few years ago I came across a site called Retro sweets whilst looking for archive footage of cult television programmes. It brought back memories I seriously had forgotten about and ended up making a comprehensive list of all my favorite food stuffs so that I could put them in my diary for future reference and tell my children of what sort of edible goodies I used to consume after doing my rounds at Brownies. Here are some you might recall if you are in your 30s or older: Outer Space disks with sherbet inside Teeth and Gums Pyramid ice cubes Cosmic pink ice pops Rainbow puffs Alphabet letter candies Fruit flavored wallpaper strips Edible sugar paper Chocolate mice Chewits, fruit salads and Blackjacks Candy necklace and watches Mr Men ice lolly Exploding candy Golden nugget chewing gum Finger of Fudge Topic Bar Star Bar Pink Panther chocolate bar The list is even longer but this will suffice I think. I know that many of these sweets have returned to shop shelves but have no idea of the period gap of when some of them completely disappeared and made a real comeback? - Many of them I guess have just stuck around because the demand for them have remained unchanged so it would be great to hear from people in their twenties if any of these sweets and chocolates are familiar to you?

Chocolate mice? Interesting. I think I might have tried one of those if I was alive back then. I do remember when I was little though that I wanted a blue lollipop for Christmas. And back then, there weren't many around. I drove my parents and my neighbors crazy looking for them. Now, you see so many blue lollipops around! How times change!

Children have a fascination for color, I remember when I wanted a pair of bright pink boots and got them for my 13th birthday!

Star bar is something I love a lot. I like it so much and also cutie pie with lots of colors outside and we use to choose the color. Pink and red was my favorite. Lollipops was amazing with so many colors. We use to decorate our Christmas tree with loads of chocolates of different colors, and fascinating colorful toffees. I wish I was a kid again and go back in my childhood days I enjoyed a lot.

OMG I use to eat a lot of those. Seriously, do you remember how nasty that sugar paper was??? I had a friend who was addicted to the stuff, but I really thought it was gross ha ha!

It was even nastier when placed in water and went floppy - I'm amazed my teeth hadn't fallen out after all that chomping on sugar load! - I'm glad it bought back some memories for you though as it's a real culture shock to look back and think how on earth did I ever eat some of those things? I loved Dip Daps the best but forgot to put it in my list. My brother used to use the lolly as a signal post for his Action Man truck in the garden until the ants feasted away on it during the night!
