Recently, in Victoria, Australia, we had a young man sentenced to thirty days in jail for blowing a bubble in court. The magistrate said he showed no respect for the court. The following week, a truck driver pleaded guilty to killing two young children when he ran a red light, and his truck crashed into the car they were in. The judge here said he had shown a lot of remourse. How can we respect our justice system with judgements like these?

Of course, because the judge is also a human , things like this happens , injustice. I think the truck driver should be sentenced heavily and for the young man, since he's still "young", should be forgiven.

I don't hink it's the system, so much as the power the judge, or magistrate has. In their cases the decisions both certainly sucked.
