Hard luck, England.
England had just been knocked out of the 19th FIFA World Cup Tournament South Africa and I think this match will be a talking point for years to come as England appeared to have been robbed of their quarterfinals chance and it is not their doing.
The talking point is whether Frank Lampard's undeclared goal due to referee gaffe was the turning point for England's defeat and if the outcome of the game be different.
I think it is about time FIFA consider spending part of their millions' budget on upgrading the quality of refereeing by implementing the electronic video technology into the refereeing.
I can understand the sentiments of FIFA but I feel that soccer like every other sports which encourages open participation should also encourage a higher degree of fairness to increase the level of REAL fair play on the field, where the refereeing must be up to the standard to ENSURE it!
What do you think?

These referees should be heavily punished so that they would think several times before taking a decision. A sure goal was declined. What is this ? This is shame to FIFA too. Why they are not taking help of the modern technologies ? In this age this is quite ridiculous. In some other match between Mexico and Argentina, a offside goal was declared right goal. Why ? FIFA should think about taking help of such technologies which should not hamper the speed of the game. The officials are highly loaded with brilliant peoples, can't they find out any way ? The better the decision, the better for the game and for us. Why make more victims ? We should give full credits to the deeds performed.

rafaelnadal007,
Out of all these referee gaffes, it just amazes every one how errant referees could be allowed to officiate such a prolific tournament without any evidence of these referees being re-qualified to do so.
I am just shocked to disbelief that the errant referee in this fateful match had actually committed the SAME mistake in another qualifier match between Brazil and Mexico 6 years ago. He was subsequently banned for 2 years and was not allowed to officiate any FIFA sanctioned matches.
I suppose not only is FIFA adamant against employing technology into the playing field but also in their administrations as well. At least with this dubious selection and an eventful result to attest.
Also, I just cannot understand how FIFA could be having qualified referee dilemmas when I am sure there is a large pool of qualified referees around the world to select and to arrive with such referees is just unacceptable plus pathetic.

Stotinka5,
My exact sentiments here.
This would have been a good match but unfortunately destroyed in the hands of an errant referee and linesman.
Just for the record, it is not the first time this referee had committed this mistake and I just had to see the reason(s) FIFA for hiring him for such a prolific tournament.
It is sad indeed and FIFA is equally responsible here.

Sure, I definitely think that videos and monitors should be used during games in order to make it easier for the refs. That as been clear many times, both in this World Cup and in past ones. But in this game, Germany was better. It could clearly be seen before that goal, and after it. England would have lost either way, so I don't think it would have changed the outcome of the game, to be honest, but I could be wrong of course.

puccagirl,
Unfortunately, FIFA still does not see this eye to eye and they are still adamant with their no technology stance.
Say what you like here, but the fact that the Uruguayan referee presiding on that match actually had a dubious history where he committed the same error call 6 years ago in ago where he was later suspended for 2 years and there were other blatant errors as well. Now, surely FIFA does not need technology to disapprove such a referee or do they?
I felt that if the goal had been allowed then England will not be taking the risk to attack all out in the second half. So, I am for that the game and outcome would have been different if the referee had ruled correctly.
It is behavioral and this match was destroyed by the hands of an errant referee and he should be asked to resign or much more befitting SACKED without prejudice!
