Good news for horse lovers

Being a horse owner and lover for the majority of my life, I was quite pleased to read in the paper today about something that has always bothered me. As of Friday, it is now a felony to kill horses for food, to sell horse meat in any capacity and basically to even think about it. For years I have seen in the frozen food section pkgs of frozen horse meat made by Hills. When I was very young, I used to take the 10 or 12 pkgs and throw them to the bottom of the freezer and put something else on top of them so that no one wouuld buy it. I guess, in my own naive way, I thought I was doing something to stop this horrible thing people were doing to horses. I loved horses so much (and still do) that I would actually cry at the thought of the slaughter of same for food. It really bothered me. Today, I was looking at these pictures my friend sent me of her animals and among them were these baby chicks. Immediately, I got that same feeing..How can we eat these precious little birds. Don't get me wrong, I love chicken and eat it all the time and then pictures like these come along and I think thoughts like "maybe the vegan thing is not such a bad idea) I know we have to eat to survive and lots of the things we eat were at one time an adorable little baby but I guess I just dont like to think about it..What about you? Do pictures like this bother you and are you happy for the horses today?
