WE always ask about the best Indian XI or all time best, but if I ask you what will be the best Asian XI, taking the CURRENT players from India, Srilanka, Pakistan & Bangladesh, what it would be ?? I am suggesting a team for both ODIs and TESTS, what you feel about it? And tell me your best XI and Why you have made that team MY ASIAN XI for TESTS.. 1. Gautham Gambhir 2. Virender Sehwag 3. Kumar Sangakkara 4. Sachin Tendulkar 5. YOUNIS KHAN 6. MS DHONI 7. Saqib-ul-Hasan 8. Umar Gul 9. Muttiah Muralitharan 10. Zaheer Khan 11. L. Malinga MY ASIAN XI for ODIs 1. Gautham Gambhir 2. Virender Sehwag 3. Sachin Tendulkar 4. T DILSHAN 5. Kumar Sangakkara 6. MS Dhoni 7. A. Matthews 8. Shahid Afridi 9. lasith Malinga 10. Umar Gul 11. Saeed Ajmal

I always like these kind of line up. It would be nice if Asia 11 play more matches against other teams like "rest of the world" or Africa or other continents. They play very rarely and it would be nice if they play more matches because Asia team have more great players. Anway, here's my Asia 11 Test team 1) M Jayawardane 2) K Sangakara 3) V Sehwag 4) S Tendulkar 5) R Dravid 6) U Akmal 7) M Dhoni 8) H Singh 9) Z Khan 10)L Malinga 11)M Muralidaran I put Jawardane as one of the opener because he has really done being an opener in the recent past. He can play swing very well. He's a type of batsman who prefer to use timing than power. That's the kind of batting you really need in test matche. Also, recently, Sehwag has expressed his wish to bat in the middle order and said that he would like to wait till Tendulkar retires to occupy the spot so, I put him at #3 spot. ODI team 1) M Jayawardane 2) V Sehwag 3) S Tendulkar 4) Y Singh 5) M Dhoni 6) U Akmal 7) S Afridi 8) Z Khan 9) M Asif 10)L Malinga 11)M Muralidaran I left out Harbajan Singh in the ODI team has Afridi can bat and bowl as well. He is in good form right now, scoring couple of centuries in the Asia cup. I added one more pace bowler to make it 3 for ODI team in the name of Mohammad Asif. Again I included Jayawardane as an opener for ODI because, we already have a devastating opener in the name of Sehwag. All we want is someone from the other end to support him, who can time the ball very well and stand for a long time and build partnership. Not another devastating opener as it might backfire.

Asia does not have too many great fast bowlers. But they do have too many spinners like Sakib al Hasain for Bangladesh, Danish Kaneria for Pakistan, Harbajan Singh for India and Muralidaran and Mendis for Sri Lanka. There are not too many options available when it comes to fast bowling department, like we have for spin. You only have to go with what resources you have. Now, as Muralidaran is going to retire from tests in a couple of weeks, I'd add either Mohammad Asif or Shreeshanth to replace him. So there you go, 3 seamers.

Both tests and oneday teams are dominated by Indian players ,that's nice ! Although worrying thing for Indian team is if zahir and harbhajan one of these or both are injured we don't have any backup bowlers to fill their places . You have chosen good team and good work from you.
