How Do I Look Up A Phone Number?

Things were so much easier back when we had just one phone company. Is there a way to look up someone's phone number for free anymore? Remember when all we had to do was pick up the phone book? Well Im trying to look up a friend's phone number on line for free but every site I go to that say's "free phone look up" only tells me that there is such a person living in the town & state, but if I want the phone number I have to pay a monthly fee, heck I only want one number not a months worth! Does anyone know a way to find a friend's number?

here in canada we have something called 411.ca where you can look anyone's phone number (as long as it is listed in the phone book) and in the us, i know you have something similar. it depends on where you are.

You can go on White Pages.com and if you have the address enter it in Reverse lookup or just enter the phone number, hope this helps
