Why Do We Spray More Perfume On Ourselves When We Are Drunk?

I have done this myself but...as I have got older and (hopefully) wiser I witness other women doing this instead! I go for the "less is more" option these days! Why is it that the perfume bottle comes out each time drunken women go to the ladies in a nightclub or some such venue? Or, worse still Impulse Body Spray...or hairspray? The more they drink alcohol the more they want to spray...well, anything really! I should know because I've "been there, done that" lol. I have also had a few lucky escapes with my eyeliner pencil as in...not stabbing my eye with it when inebriated. Also, Mum could never understand why I had to go out wearing pink and lilac eyeshadow, eyeliner but NO MASCARA! There was a thing about blusher in the 80s as well...no foundation, just blusher, usually in bright pink with lipstick to match! If I remember rightly, the reason I didn't wear mascara was due to the fact it was made of crushed beetles...still is as far as I know but mascara, ironically, is a make-up item I cannot do without these days. So any perfume horror stories? Or make-up? I don't mind what you choose!

Very strange fashion make up story for you. Years ago, in the 60's when twiggy was actually a model and in her teens, as well as wearing lashings of mascara, she also drew staight thin lashes under her eyes , called twiglets or twiggies. as based on the famous lady herself. So as teens we all followed this quite weird fashion and thought we looked great. There was also the time in the 70's during the time of Charlies Angels and Dynasty; 2 wonderful (?) american series where all the actresses wore pink blusher on their cheekbones. I could never get the hang of that trend, the same with dark red lipstick, I just looked like some scary clown but I did use pink and lilac eyeshadow , (still have some stashed away in the make up bag) but always looked as I had too many late nights.

was looking further up on the postings, and saw the wikipedia entry on mascara. Read it and quite amazed as to what goes into coloured mascara = egg white!! especially as i love coloured mascara. Its very difficult to get, but I have had violet or green from Avon and rimmel did do a lovely blue.

Oh my! I never knew that about how Twiggy wore her mascara but I have seen photos of her in her heyday, it's no wonder you all wanted to "be her" so to speak. She looks amazing, even now but has toned down her mascara somewhat, which I suppose is just as well seeing as she is 60 or something! I know what you mean about the pink blusher. There were conflicting reports on how it should be applied and I've looked like a clown on a number of occasions..but I blended in with the others so no-one cared! I was lucky after Christmas because I managed to buy some YSL mascara that's a greyish-blue colour. No doubt it was reduced because it wasn't black but I absolutely love it because it's so different and actually matches another YSL sale product of a slate blue eye shadow that's applied with a brush. That's amazing too and I know both will last ages. I bought both on the Cheap Smells site in case you are interested. I've lost count of the bargains I've had off that site and they are genuine products too, not copies. Yes, I have read about the egg white. It's probably in the YSL mascara I've got. Trouble is, manufacturers are rather secretive about their ingredients which doesn't help us when choosing their products.

i think all your senses become impaired to a degree when drunk-stands to reason sense of smell might be too. however, that does not explain sober men who bathe in body products to the degree of choking passersby.."there's something about brut women like to be close to" yea, close to a frickin window..

Haha! I know what you mean. Mum's neighbour Phil (especially when he was younger) used to go out at night to the pub and he often wreaked of - well, I don't know what it was but if he'd used it sparingly it'd be nice. But, no, he had to overdo it. And that was BEFORE he had a drink! Now, whenever my Dad wears Boss aftershave it smells stunning on him for the simple reason that he doesn't overdo it.

After you have perfume on, you stop smelling it so much, so I'm sure these drunk women think they forgot to put it on and ****ssssssssppppppppppppp**** and more perfume. I never have. To start with, I've only been drunk once. And that most perfumes give me migraines...

There are some perfumes that give me migraines..I would say "Eden" by Cacharel and "Miracle" by Lancome are two of the worsed. Yes, I do think women lose their sense of smell once very drunk. A woman started spraying some really cheap stuff around the ladies one time and it ended up virtually in my face. She was a menace, old enough to know better but she wasn't lol. I never went on the dance floor because she was pushing everyone around on it. They all laughed at her "because she's like that all the time, we're used to it!" What an awful woman she was...a friend of the mother-in-law's too. Figures!

Wherever did you get the idea that mascara was made of crushed beetles!?!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mascara#Composition Please scroll down the article to where it says "Composition" then you will find out what nasties are in most mascaras. Granted, there aren't any crushed beetles in there (sorry about that, a red dye taken from the cochniceal beetle is used to colour lipsticks) but it certainly isn't a wholly natural product.

What about pee found in many make-ups and lotions? Well...sorta. Urea is an ingredient in many of these products and urine contains urea. But here, see for yourself -- http://thebeautybrains.com/2006/11/12/should-you-worry-about-pee-in-your-make-up/

I dont recall ever doing that to myself when I was drunk. Probably the real reason I never did it was because I never carried perfume in my purse or I probably would have. I always carried makeup with me and would constantly reapply it when I was drunk. When I drink my face gets pale and my eyes get squinty. I look terrible when I'm drunk or even just drinking a little bit.

Oh dear! I've learned to keep my perfume at home and just spray it once before I go out. I did this yesterday and it lasted ALL DAY! Have you ever missed your mouth with your lippy (lipstick) whilst drunk/ I have although it was a long time ago. I got stared at but I didn't care at that point lol.
