I wonder why lots of people love to eat green mangoes with salt and vinegar. Even kids in school? during recess time they preferred to eat this green mangoes than any other nutritious food. To me, I don't like it. How about you? do love to eat green mangoes with salt? or with bagoong.

Hi, Bebs08. If mangoes are a sweet fruit, I would prefer to eat it with salt and not vinegar at all. I have never had an mango before. I have tasted a mango flavor in a gum or candy. I would like to try this with some lite salt.

This is the first time I heard about salt and vinegar. I tried salt yes. and bagoong! yummmm! but salt and vinegar, haven't heard. Why put vinegar? It's already sour. Anyway, this post is making me hungry and it's also making me crave for green mangoes and bagoong! Oh no, here it goes, I can feel my mouth "nangangasim" yummm

Oh yes, salt and vinegar. The canteen in the school where I was working before has that kind. Green mangoes with salt and vinegar and it makes the little kids sick when they had it at recess time.

Green mangoes, grinded with little green chilly, little salt, little cumin seeds etc is always a type of most liking pickle for me always! But it is available in the months of March-April here in India. We also add cut pieces of green mangoes wth curry and dal. A special item - 'Amba Khata' is prepared by cooking these green mangoes with molases and spices! It improves taste for other food items, enhances liquidity factor of blood thereby reducing the chances of blood pressure and heart problems! It contains many types of rare minerals, vitamins and antibodies those inprove the internal stamina of our body! A spoonful or two of this raw grinded is very tasty with lunch. Of course, taking green mangoes in empty stomach is not at all advisable! Thanks for this nice discussion and hope you will change your taste for green mangoes!!

I bet you are right. Eating green mangoes with empty stomach made someone sick. That;s what happen in school when little kids eat green mangoes at recess time. I preferred ripe yellow mangoes than green one.

yes. we have that in the canteen and it's top seller. it's just that i should lessen eating that because too much acid can break teeth and im afraid that to happen.

Yes there are those who love raw mangoes with salt and vinegar and sometimes vinegar and sugar. But I have never tried that and I don't think I would ever try. I think mangoes and vinegar are both sour so they don't really make a good match. I would rather eat mango with plain salt or bagoong.

Yeah, green mango and bagoong is most common anywhere in the Philippines. I don't see that here in US. No one is selling green mangoes with bagoong.. and I seldom see mangoes and if there is, it's too expensive. a dollar a piece is the cheapest.
