I really love to have one DSLR soon. It is my dream to open up a studio of my own. I really love to take pictures, especially pictures of nature and wilds. I am planning to buy a digital cam, but am deciding between the DSLR and the regular digital camera. A digital camera is handy unlike the DSLR and the DSLR is much more complicated to use. The pixels and the pictures by the DSLR are really great. Each have their own pros and cons. What can you suggest for me to buy??

I can see that you are into something big later on and having point and shot won't get you near to that dream of yours. There are so many things that a DSLR can offer than P&S specially that you are going outdoor to take nature and wilds to shot with. You don't need to go nearer of your subject with DSLR to have a great capture of the wild and nature. Although it is expensive but it's a lifetime investment of yours if you really are into photography (which I believe you are). There are cheaper entry level DSLR that give you a better outcome than P&S and the advantage of the DSLR had a long way to go than it's cons comparing to P&S. There's really nothing much between the two to compare.

Wow. This is a helpful advise. I think that DSLR will be my choice of camera, because if a buy the ordinary digicam, later on I will have to spend another for a DSLR. So why not spend only once and save my money to buy a better one. Right? Thanks. Have a good day. Really appreciate your advice.

Well, if you are just in it for fun, then a digital cam would be good. Its cheaper and it is very handy. But if you have plans of going into pro later on, then DSLR would be a wise choice. However, its quite expensive.

if you are planning to pursue photography as your career or even as a serious hobby,i suggest that you buy a dslr camera as it would be more useful to you. however,if you are just buying for the sake of taking pictures, then a regular digicam would be my choice foryou. as you said, it's easier to use and it's also more handy. plus it costs less.

For me, If I am going to bring it with me everyday... I'll definitely buy a digicam, anyway, there are brands that already have high pixels in the market. It's for regular use. I'll just buy a DSLR when I have extra money. ;)

Thanks for the advise. I think that having a digicam is more inexpensive and handy. I have many things to think about. I believe that the pixels is not the issue. I think that lens too can make a big difference in taking picture. Have a nice day. Thanks for the response.

hmm i think you should buy a dslr because beside the image is good quality and much of people use dslr too,,but in dslr the important thing is lenses so the body of camera isn't really important i think for newbie ,only my suggest

If I will buy a digital camera, then I will buy a DSLR. As I pay attention to the photo quality. I don't mind DSLR is bigger and seems to be inconvenient to carry it. The regular digital camera is portable, however, I am not very pleased to use it. I love China

Well this is a good question mainly because of the way technology is changing. If you want to get serious about photography, you will need a DSLR at one point or another. The reason is because of the extensive manual control and ability to change lenses. A DSLR can give the flexibility that a normal point and shoot camera can not. This is not to say that you can not take great photos with Point and Shoot cameras. It is just a matter of learning how to use your camera properly. Do not get too hung up on brands or specs. What makes good photos is the following 1. Interesting Subject/Good Lighting 2. Composition 3. Photographer's ability 4. Lens quality 5. Camera The first two you can not do anything about. The third though, is what really matters. Take the time to learn your camera and basic photographic technique. Its not that hard. A good weekend course will get you started. If you want to take it serious, you will need either a higher end Point and Shoot or entry level DSLR. You should budget around $250 to $500 dollars. No more than that. For point and shoots cameras, I wound recommend: Canon S90 Canon G9 through G11 Panasonic LX3 Samsung Tl500 They can be a little intimidating, but you can put them into the auto mode in the beginning so you can just get started taking pictures. If you want a DSLR, there are a lot of options under $500 Nikon D3000 Canon XS Pentax KX (my fave) Olympus E-420 Sony A-230 Much like a point and shoot, you can put these in an auto mode for a while until you become use to the manual functions. Which one is best for you? Well what is really the most important feature in choosing a camera is ergonomics. It need to fit comfortably in your hands and the controls and menu's need to be laid out in a logical manner to you. The camera you feel most comfortable with is the camera for you.
