Today the field near the house got cut. This is always such a good thing. The grass grows so high it can easly hide a cougar or a fox. We don't have wolves here but cougars are bad enough. Having Llamas is just like putting out bate to these animals and most of the time they stay away from man but the young ones often don't know enough to do that. We also find many snakes in that field, they catch the rodents who live there and they are mainly nonpoison types but once in a while a rattle snake has been found there. Anyway there is no way I will walk in that field when the grass is high. Fire season begins this week so all the grass around the house must be cut. It's great that the temp is not high today, it makes handling this chore so much more pleasent. Now we will have to gather the grass to feed the Llamas, but we need to wait a couple of days for it to dry. When I come from town to our little valley I can look across and see the plaid made by field that have been cut and those that haven't it is such a pretty sight and again makes me love the place I live. What is there about the place you live that you love. Even if it's just the people, home is always special.

being born in the city, it is my dream to one day be able to live in a country where life is simple and quiet.

There is so much about this place that I love!! I love going to my dad's and seeing the corn and wheat fields growing and swaying in the breeze. The rich soil that I grow my garden in is so good to me. I like living in this small city where I rarely hear a helicopter and when I do it's either from the Air Force base or a medivac--back in Phoenix the helicopters were almost constantly circling, looking for bad guys. I love my friendly neighbors and seeing the kids playing on the street, kids that actually have manners and respect. I could go one for pages but I love where I live and hope I never have to leave again.

The place where you live sounds truly lovely and it reminds me of my husband’s home town, a place called Tatura in country Victoria which is a state on the opposite side of Australia from where we live at present. Tatura is a lovely town and the farms with their fields create so much greenery. We live in suburbia now and although I love where I live because our city is not too big or too small and the weather is not too cold here, I would love to retire in a place like Tatura...

I love the country life. My grandparents live in a village. I used to love to go there during my vacations. It used to be fun playing in the fields, catching fish and playing in the late. We used to climb the mago trees and play around. It used to be fun. Oh...I miss those days.

Hi Savypat, Sounds like you have had a busy day clearing all that grass, the llamas will be appreciative of it though in a few days time. I love where I live as even though near enough to town have countryside all around me and the beach just a walk away, as a child I dreamt of living near the near and achieved that dream over 10 years ago now, the minuteI arrived I knewI was home. I love to walk along the front in all weathers and hear the waves crashingagainst the shore, pure bliss. Itis also a lovely area for my son to grow up, a large enough community that he can make good friends but rural enough that he canbe outside active rather than stuck indoors as too dangerous to goout. Huggles. Ellie :D

I live in the country also, surrounded by apple orchards and farmland. I love the smell in fall when they pick the apples, in the spring when the orchards are all in bloom. I like that Im surrounded by a few mountains and trees as far as the eyes can see. Im also near a lake, so I have it all.
If we are to move, we'll go further into the land, up in the mountains.
