Hi, I was just wondering what peoples thoughts were on the tea party. Are they regular people trying to get America back to its core values/roots, or are they radical conservative fanatics? Just wondering what everyones thoughts on this were. Do you know anyone who is apart of this movement? Why are you for it or against it? No bashing of anyone please :) The great thing about being American is that we can have an opinion!

I definitely think they're conservative fanatics. We're all angry politically for a variety of reasons, but they're only making themselves look bad, as well as making republicans look bad. But I guess I don't care about republicans looking bad because I'm an independent...So I'm biased. But I don't agree with republicans, so therefore I don't agree with the tea party movement. I believe they are people that are against the things I strive to fight for, like equality for gays, women's rights to have a choice in what they do with their bodies, etc, etc, etc.

I support tea parties and I'm just a "regular people." If wanting to live by our constitution and stay free instead of enslaved to the government is radical, then I guess the movement is radical. The liberal left would paint it that way, anyway.

I went to a rally down here in Florida and met a bunch of very normal people while I was there. Many of us come from different political viewpoints but we all wanted the same thing. I'm a moderate republican...who voted for Obama because McCain and Palin were too divisive and too far to the right for my taste. Unfortunately, a GOP finaced political group called the Tea Party Express are trying their best to hijack the movement and make it a wing of the Republican party. This is not the case.

Definitely not fanatics, or there would be a lot of trouble at the gatherings, although the media has tried to portray them as fanatics with little success. I like their direction. Honor the Constitution and use it to govern. Less government intruding in our lives, less government spending and reduce the size of government, which leads to less taxes. I do not think that they alone can make a marked effect. I am hoping that the movement can be a springboard for the country to get very involved in the election process this fall. President Obama is leading this country down the path to catastrophe.
