Do you like Starbucks?

The company? The coffee? I didn't used to like either. I thought they were a big evil corporation and that their coffee was too strong. But then I loved all their "stuff"--the other things they carried--the marketing, the packaging, the mugs, the cds. All of it. And then I looked into great places to work and Starbucks was high on the list. Apparently, they are a great company. They give back to the community and take care of their employees, even part time employees. Now that I live in Washington state, I think I'm supposed to like them less. They are everywhere. Are they forcing out the little guy? I dunno. There are a lot of local roasters I like, too. But I really do like Starbucks now and ALL coffee establishments. When I traveled to Vegas, I missed the coffee-everywhere culture of the Pacific Northwest. But I find I like the coffee at Starbucks now, too. What happened to me? I dunno. My favorite is Serena Organic. Or Espresso Roast. Or Gazebo Blend--great on the porch. I like it with half and half. Sometimes flavored. Love it with Baileys, but haven't done that in a while. Also love lattes, mochas, frappuccinos. Java Chip is awesome--frappuccino or ice cream. Mmmmmm. You? What do YOU think?

As far as I know, they are doing ok financially, but not as good as you might think. I think the tsunami hurt some of the places they get coffee. I can't remember how I Know this--they had to raise their prices or something. French Mocha sounds good. I swear I am not in marketing for Starbucks (although I've thought about it!) Here is their Corporate Social Responsibility Annual Report (How many places even have something like this?): http://www.starbucks.com/aboutus/csrannualreport.asp And their Starbucks Foundation: http://www.starbucks.com/aboutus/foundation.asp And they are one of Fortune's 100 Best Companies to Work for. As they say on their site http://www.starbucks.com/aboutus/default.asp?cookie%5Ftest=1--"The bottom line: we always figured that putting people before products just made good common sense. So far, it’s been working out for us. Our relationships with farmers yield the highest quality coffees. The connections we make in communities create a loyal following. And the support we provide our baristas pays off everyday" So, it makes me feel better about all those $3.50 mochas and lattes. :) Starbucks commericial over.

I love Starbucks coffee -- I don't react well to caffeine, though, so I have to stick with decaf. Luckily, they offer TONS of great decaf selections. Usually, I just get a regular cup of decaf with skim milk and Splenda, but their "treat" coffees are wonderful once in a while. Mmmmm, caramel macchiato (sp?) with extra vanilla -- good stuff! And have you tried their gingerbread lattes? Oh, yeah!

I have way too much caffeine. I never used to, but it sorta snuk up on me. I'll have to cut down someday. We tend to get the treaty stuff. Lately I'm into Vanilla Lattes. I had a seasonal peppermint mocha the other day. I also enjoyed the pumpkin latte, but I should get it low fat w/ no whip. It's not as good that way. :( lol. O hwell. I haven't had the gingerbread, but you're making me want one! We have regular starbucks at home a lot.

A very impartial answer. heh heh. You're welcome. I'm glad you're having fun. Well, I imagine that everyone is here because they heard there was money for chatting. But, I imagine that if they are here for a few days, they either have figured out some magic secret or just really LOVE it. :)

That is one of my favorites, too. It's quite delish. If she hasn't tried it yet, she should also try their Java Chip ice cream, available in most grocery stores. It is so good. Unfortunately, it only comes in a big package (I think 1/2 gallon?), so I always eat too much. I've started letting my kids eat it though, too. Not sure how smart that is, but we are in the Pacific Northwest, where coffee is god. lol.

Yes, I love Starbucks. I like the company and their products. They really do alot of great things for the community, especially the countries where they get their coffee. They don't just take the coffee, they go back and help out. I also think Howard Schultz is a great man. And it doesn't hurt that their coffees are delicious! :) I love frappucinos the most. I'm going to try the eggnog flavor soon, I love eggnog so it should be good. And I've really built some good relationships with the employees at the Starbucks near me cause I go in there so dang much lol.
