Spain again showed its quality as a strong candidate for the 2010 World Cup champions after Portugal overcame tough opposition in the party 16 of the Green Point Stadium, Cape Town, David Villa back into the star of the Spanish victory over the single goal which is more than enough to ensure that Spain cruised into the quarter-finals. Spain had successfully turned around the situation where at Euro 2004, Portugal beat them 1-0, and extend the record of the Spanish victory over Portugal. In total, La Furia Roja record victory 16 times and lost five in 32 meetings. Faced with Portugal that have strong walls, Spanish is still capable of playing passing football which became his trademark style. Even so, Spain took until the second half to finally break through Portugal's goalkeeper was kept very well by goalkeeper Eduardo. At the quarterfinal later, Spain had been expected by opponents that are relatively lighter than Portugal - Paraguay. Spain cruised into the semi-final step is quite open when viewing a performance of La Furia Roja. what is your predict for the next match?

Yes, except for the opening few minutes when Portugal had some serious chances of scoring, it was all spain during yesterday's match. For starters the midfield trio of Xavi, Alonso and Busquets were so much in control of the midfield that there were phases in the game especially in the second half that Portugal was just chasing the ball for a long long time. Ronaldo cut such a sorry figure, doing absolutely nothing during the whole match and looking disgruntled!! And if Eduardo in the Portugal goal did not have a great game, it would have been a much bigger margin for the Spanish. Spain are peaking up at the right moment in the tournament. Cheers! Ram

Well, Spain is my favorite team in this tournament, for several reasons: They are #1 in FIFA Ranking, they have high quality players from the goalie to the forwards, most of them are highly experienced both in club level and national team, and of course, they are European champion. I think they deserve to win this world cup, and the game against Portugal showed that they are capable to reach it. I hope they would not be too frustrated facing the defensive play of Paraguay, and go to the semifinal.

Well, I miss predicted to this match between Portugal and Spain. I predicted Portugal would won the game. Spain played well and so did Portugal. Both team played offensive football. I think Spain deserve to won. In the next match, I think Spain will not meet any difficulty against Paraguay. I think Portugal is better than Paraguay. But everything could be happen in the yard. There is no certain result until the game is finished. Teams from America Latin has good individual skill they could be make Spain should be careful. What ever, Spain has passed to the quarter final and I hope they will show us good games when against Paraguay. Congratulations to Spain!
