How often do you wash your hair in winter?

For me, I normally wash my hair every second day during winter because it's just too cold to wash it every day like I do in summer. I tie my hair up all the time so even in summer, it takes forever for my hair to dry - in winter it's almost 24 hours! What about you? How often do you wash your hair in winter?

I wash my hair every three days during the winter. Mostly because my hair doesn't get dirty or oily. My sister tends to have oily hair, so she washes her hair every single day. Mine would be more on the dry side, so if I washed it more often than every three days, it would get damaged. I let my hair "air" dry too. I think it is better for the "health" of my hair.

I can't stand to dry my hair with a dryer only because my hair gets way too frizzy...plus I don't own a hair dryer anymore.

I don't either. My hair is curly, and it would frizz too.

Yeah, mine is naturally like a spiral perm unless I control it.

I am not sure if this is just aimed at women, this discussion, but I will add my views even though my hair is short. I wash my hair every two or three days at this time of the year. In summer I probably wash it every day as it is pretty sweaty here as you know. When I worked a proper job I used to wash it every night after work as well because it would get so dusty or greasy from working on cars.

Now worries RawBill, this is aimed at everyone - male & female :) I can just imagine how drity you would be as a mechanic...if I didn't get into uni, I'd be a qualified mechanic now as I wanted to do an apprentceship but I got into uni instead...my car needs work done on it...do you feel like driving up here to service it? I'll pay... (Don't worry, I'm joking about doing the work)

I am actually a qualified Panel Beater, not a mechanic, but I can do some basic mechanical repairs. But no, I don't feel like working on cars anymore!

I do it everyday. I have oily hair and on top of that it's baby fine. I wrap it in a towel, which helps take out the extra moisure, and then blow dry on low. I use conditioner only every other day though. The only reason i even use the stuff is to be able to brush it without tearing my hair out. Other than that, same as summer, I wash it everyday. Saves me hair cuts too. When I was younger, I would be able to get away with washing it every other day, but now that I am older, it's not an option.

Hi, moonchild1au. I wash my hair every week. I have been doing this since March of this year. I use my blow dryer to dry my hair, so I usually will get warm during this time.

That's definitely a good idea.

Every two to three days is a good amount of time for me. It doesn't take all that long to dry my hair. Of course, I sit in an area where a lot of hot air blows out of the heater, so perhaps that could be the reason why. Of course, the hair is less sweaty in the winter time so there really is no need to wash it as often as I did. Still, it really depends all things considered. There might be times where it might be necessary to wash it slightly more. Perhaps slightly less, but two to three days does seem like the obvious benchmark. I find myself at least wetting my hair down every day in the summertime, because it gets rather oily because of all of the sweat. Still in the winter, I don't really have that problem to that degree.

I don't see a reason to wash hair all the time in winter either.

I usually wash my fair every second day in winter too. But sometimes I maybe wash it every fifth day , when I was lazy . And my fair is short , thus I can clean it so easily . hehe .

I wish I could be lazy!! If I leave it longer than 2 days to wash my hair, my head/scalp feels itchy :(
