Nowdays ,many movies come and go every week, despite the crazy figures given out by production houses like sony, dreamworks etc,the public is really confused whether the given movie is a success or not, take a case in example, consider the movie "2012",which had a stupendous release all over the world and had a reported budget of around 250 million dollars, consider this, the movie made only around 180 million in it's home country that is USA,which is way less than it's budget, but it made a reported gross of 480 million all over the world,so,in my book i would say that the movie has been rejected outright by the us public,so it can be at all called a universal blockbuster,ya depending upon it's release in the respective countries it can be called a hit or superhit depending upon it's run and it's buying budget in that respective country,So it's a flop in USA,another example is terminator salvation which could make only 130 million in usa.so next time you see the advertisement stating that it's a huge blockbuster, you should straight go to boxofficemojo.com and search the gross for the respective movie and decide for yourself,so check the facts before deciding anything!
