I'm currently on a J.R.R. Tolkien kick. I've just finished reading The Hobbit, and am now reading The Lord Of The Ring series, and the version I got is all one big book! With a prologue and appendix, it is 1112 pages.. certainly the longest book I've read thus far. I'm currently on page 192.. a ways to go still!

What's the longest book that you've read 31 times? Lord of the Rings. Yep, it's true. For a while there, I was reading it a couple of times a year, but those times are long gone. Apparently there's a book out there, "The Blah Story" that has over 7,300 pages. No thanks. But I have read some pretty long ones: Gone With the Wind Atlas Shrugged Les Miserables

The Blah Story does not sound interesting! The most times I've read a book? Probably just 2 or 3 times.. I had to reread many of the Harry Potter books when new books came out or when the movies came out. Think I'll soon be rereading the Twilight series all over again.

I've read Harry Potter (all of them) and I may get to Twilight eventually, but I have way to much of a backlog now to reread things. Once in a while I make an exception...

I've quite a few long books and they were well over 1,000 pages, lets see all the Lord of the Rings including the Hobbit; Stephen Kings IT(waaaaay better than movie), The Last Stand, The Eyes of the Dragon; Harry Potter series and many other books I just can't remember the longest book I have read. :( If I read the dictionary will that count? :D

Oddly enough Karen, the first 3 are my least favorite of the series, especially the first 2.. I cannot bring myself to read them again, or to even watch the movies again!

I think I read IT when I was younger.. or at least part of it, because I loved the movie. I've also read the Harry Potter series a few times.. though I consider them seperate books.

I'm not sure, but I know it didn't have THAT many pages. Kudos to you for tackling it! If I had to guess the amount of pages the longest book I ever read actually had, I would guess somewhere in the 600s. I imagine it had to be in high school. I had plenty of time on my hands what with me being incrediblty depressed and sad.

Now, the longest book I have read was Stephen King's Under the Dome. It's over 1,000 pages! But it was AWESOME and it never dragged on!! I loved it and really hope they make a movie out of it, because if they did it right it would be awesome!! I recommend this to anyone who likes a good book!

No idea, but I love Tom Bomadil, I wish they had of portrayed him in the movies, I have several books that are a few in a single binding, like the Chronicles of Narnia, which is 7 books, but it was only 799 pages. I read a lot though. I think the longest book though, had to have been from my armpit to my first knuckles on my fingers. Cheers.

I cant remember exactly how many pages was the longest book I've ready but anyway, it was Harry Potter book 4 and 5. I thought book 4 was thicker than book 5 but then again, there's only a small difference in the number of pages and book 5 was thicker than 4. So far, that's the longest book I have ever read.

Gone With the Wind has 1037 pages. I am pretty sure that is the longest book I have ever read. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix has 896 pages and that is probably the second longest book I have ever read. Right now I am reading The Host which is only 619 pages and short in comparison.

I don't remember it too much. I was 12 when I read it. It must have been good for me to read it for fun at that age.

Never read Gone With The Wind, but know the basics of the movie. Is it a good read?

The Bible. lol Actually it is probably the longest book I've ever read... but I'm not entirely sure it counts. I've read Lord of the Rings but my copies are separated into the three regular volumes, so I wouldn't really count it as being the longest book I've read. One of the other really long books I read was "Stone of Tears" by Terry Goodkind. It was almost 1,000 pages and the print was super small.

But Lord of the Rings isn't really a trilogy. It's one book that's been separated into three volumes...

I prefer shorter books because I have a hard time putting them down for anything.. I'll even stay up all night reading if it really catches my interest. I've finished decent sized novels in less than 24 hours. I told my son it should take me a week or less to read the entire Lord Of The Rings book.. only because with the kids all home I have a hard time reading more than a couple chapters at a time.

Dawnald, yes but even by today's standards a publisher would tell Tolkien to break the book into pieces. It's separated into three volumes for a good reason. I don't think my reading of it in pieces counts as reading one long book. Often when I'm reading a super-long book... I feel like the end is never going to come. When I read LOTR broken up, it was easy. The end came pretty much exactly when it normally would with a book. If I counted them all as one book then Stone of Tears would be out because it was shorter... but the Bible is still longer. I don't always prefer short books, but I'm a fast reader and if a book takes me longer than a week to read then I get antsy. I've also read some pretty good sized books in less than a day.

Well, The Lord of the Rings is divided into three books: The Fellowship of the Rings, The two Towers and The Return of The Kings.

I love Diana Gabaldon's books and some of those are over 1000 pages. The first one in the series is Cross Stitch (Outlander is the US title), the others are Dragonfly in Amber, Voyager, The Fiery Cross, A Breath of Snow on Ashes, etc. They are wonderful novels! I also read Tolstoy's War and Peace, which is long too.

War and Peace was okay, but not amazing. I read it in 1992 and don't really remember much about it now.

Hi katsmeow. I don't know about the longest book, but the longest series was the "Left Behind" series. It contained 12 volumes. Actually, there was even a follow up thirteenth, but i skipped that one. lol

I guess you saw the movie before reading the book? You tend to prefer the first version you were exposed to.. if you read the book first you'd say the movie wasn't as good.

The longest book I have ever read has to be Harry Potter. I still couldn't believe I finished a book of that size during fourth grade. It was so huge but luckily it was just for pleasure reading and I really liked it so I was able to finish it even though it was like a couple hundred pages. I think I read all three of the books during my fourth grade year. The power of Harry Potter...

Hi K, the last long book I've read was Little Women. At that time I was still a bookworm. Now I'm just a worm, I guess. Lazy and with very poor eyesight! Next was Dr. Doolittle. I have always been fond of that man who could talk to animals. I even drew the characters on a construction paper and pasted them on my bedroom wall.

Right off the top of my head I am thinking that the longest book that I've ever read is "It" by Stephen King. However, I'm not positive about that because I really don't typically pay attention to how long the books are that I'm reading because I read for love of reading not because something is a long book and will take me a while to read. I will read a fairly short book on just as regular of a basis as I will read a very long book.

The longest book I read. I'm not sure ut I can tell you it was around 600 pages. It took me three days.

I usually like to stick to shorter books because my short attention span makes it hard for me to read realy long books. Some of my fsvorite authors are John Steinbeck, Hunter S. Tompson, William Burroughs Ect. The longest book i remember reading is East of Eden by Steinbeck, witch i think is aroud 700 pages.
