Does FIFA Have The Right To Interfere A Country's Sovereignty?

I know sports and politics do not mix.
However, I am concern with the recent warnings and stances made to the French government by Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) where it threatens the country with suspension from the tournament, if the French government is to chastise the Fédération Française de Football (FFF) or any of the guilty and disgraceful players in the recent 19th FIFA World Cup Tournament.
I think if you had been reading the news, the French world cup team was being knocked out and much of its early exit was being that much of the players had behaved very badly i.e. Anelka hurling vulgar profanities at the coach during an on going match and the players namely their captain Evra for leading a revolt against the coach by refusing to train for 2 days before their crucial encounter against South Africa.
In all fairness, these players are professionals, they have been selected to represent their country and be ambassadors of their country. Not only, had they failed to be good ambassadors of their country - France, but they have brought disrepute, disgrace and shame to their country, the game and themselves as professional footballers!
I can understand it will be wrong to chastise them if they had failed trying but not TRYING TO FAIL with all their misdemeanors.
So, in this respect, I feel that Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) does not have the right to do anything to France when she exercises her rights to chastise her disgraceful ambassadors!!
What do you think? Should the players be punish? Should FIFA stay out of the French's affair?

I do not agree that FIFA has any right to interfere, until and unless it is extenuating circumstances like military strictures on the football association or something like that. In the current FIFA rules, the country cannot even question the malfunctioning of an association as is the case of the French Association whose re-appointment of Raymond Domanech defied all logic. It seems that FIFA is ok with mis-management by these officials rather than Govt. setting things right. I think FIFA is way out of their depths in these matters and should stay out of that.
Cheers!
