I live in an apartment complex and there is 4 apt. upstairs and 4 apt. downstairs. I live upstairs and 2 of my neighbors always set there trash in front of the door. I sometimes put mine out at night but I take it with me when I leave for work in the morning. There's sits there for days at a time. It looks really trashy and it starts to smell too, when the wind blows stuff flies all over and sometimes cats tear up the bags. I feel like telling the office but I'm not a tattle tale. What would you do? The one neighbors are strange people who never even say Hello so I don't wanna aproach them about there trash.

yucky! why do they smell those garbage themselves? it's not right to make a dumpsite inside your own house.it will make you all sick, specially those who are near to you.it's better to throw your trashes to places where you can avoid sickness as well.learn to have your neighbor feel safe and healthy also like you wanted to be.

Ugh!..that can't be good..or healthy. I would actually end up writing a note maybe take a few pictures. It is only sanitary that they at least have cans with lids so animals can't get into it.Which also helps block the scent some..Like it is also attracts roaches and other bugs and creepy crawlies. I really hope things change soon..

Wow..sorry I am running behind on the discussions..But I am trying to catch up some. But that is good news hoping that they get someone in there next time that is cleaner and respects others and not leave stuff out like that.

Hi Missybear, I'm surprised the landlord hasn't noticed this as a problem. We can't put anything outside at night where I live. Once my daughter set it outside intending on running it to the dumpster in a while. Well, she forgot. Next morning there was trash everywhere! What a way to start the day! Sometimes I set mine in the hall by the door so to grab on my way out but it never piles up or stays for long.

I live in a complex that has almost 400 apartments. We have 2 maintenance guys and the manager. The two maintenance guys are all over the place every day. Also, our manager takes a walk through the place in the morning and also in the afternoon. A lot goes on here that misses their attention but trash being left outside would not be one of those things.

We live in a very large comp;ex, there must be about 500 apartments here. They don't have a lot of maintenance so keep an eye on everything and the office is in the middle but the managers hardly ever come and check around

Hi, missybear. I know that we could not get away with doing this where we live at. Sooner or later there will be a white note on our front foyer door! How are they able to get away with doing this? Shouldn't you all have dumpsters at your apartment complex where you all live at? We do. We have more than one. Someone needs to make this complaint. Your manager could get into trouble if they do an Inspection and her apartment complex looks like this. She could get cited for this. Your neighbor's have got to stop being so filthy and put their trash in the trash can. I know that you don't want to look like a tattle tale, but you may have to stand up for your rights. This morning, I went to sweep off our front step mat, and on the railing, on our side, someone left an Chinese menu. I left it sitting right there. I am not going to pick up behind someone else. That is what I don't like about living in an apartment complex. I have to clean up behind someone else. I hope that this situation changes really soon. Trash that is left sitting, can create bugs and it makes the foyer look and smell bad.

That's another thing that bugs me....all the stuff they hang on your door, most of the time it stays there or falls on the ground and no one picks it up but me. I don't like a mess in front of my door.

That's a tough one but it would drive me crazy too. Maybe you could sit your garbage bag next to theirs and tell them you thought that was where the pick up was if they say anything I don't think you would be a tattle tale if you said something about that...it might be better if the office handles it. If it was one day that would be different but several....yeah...that would get me too.

That's funny, they probably wouldn't even notice since I usually only have 1 bag.

I couldn't tell you the best move to make. Sometimes though sounding like a tattle tale is important, since its a distusting fire hazard leaving stuff like that out. We have that problem in the complex I live at as well. Though the old managment has put a stop to it for the most part. I say you have three choices. Ignore it, report them to the office or confront them about it first. Since you don't know them, you aren't going to know how they'll react. It may be okay, or they may yell at you. You won't know until you try.

Our old managers would have handled this already but the new once don't seem to care about stuff like "Garbage"

Hi missy Putting garbage in front of a neighbor's front door or even beside, is quite unprofessional and inhumanely. If I were you, I would consult the building administrator and let him be the one to handle the problem. Trash is trash and this is unhygienic. If he won't do anything, then find a better place and leave.

I used to set my trash outside my door so my husband could take it to the dumpster when he got off work, but our apartment complex was a four-plex and it was outside and that made a difference. About your neighbors though, say something it wont ever be taken care of if nothing gets said, and if it smells and is making a mess something needs to be done.

You're right and I'm too nice when it comes to complaining about stuff. That's probably why it takes so long before I get anything fixed

Take the garbage to the trash is a good habit for all of us.Some people throw the garbage every where. They damage the enviroment of the earth. They don't think that they are the victims also.I usually throw the garbage to the trash. If there is no trash nearby,i will hand it until i see the trash and throw it.

Sooner or later, someone to has say something to resolve that garbage issue in your neighborhood. It isn't hygienic anymore to have flies flying all over because of those dirt. If I were in your shoes, I'd call that matter to the management's attention. Besides, it is your right to seek a clean environment. Also, if you have kids, then all the more you should insist that each one of those tenants out there start acting responsibly. If no one is apt to do the complaint then who will? Would you rather endure the smell and allow flies to share your food? Ewww! Aren't you afraid you'll get sick? Say, if you don't have the courage to spill out your concern why don't you try approaching one of your neighbors and try voicing out your dilemma. Maybe, some of them are just waiting for someone to start the complaint. Go! Missybear Go!!

I'm going, I'm going....I don't have kids but the 1 neighbor does. Part of there trash are dirty diapers. I think I will pot a note on there door asking them nicely to take there crap to the garbage.
